In view of the worst hit cloudburst at the Amarnath shrine, the local administration has cancelled the leaves of the local doctors.

Directorate of Health Services Kashmir taking cognisance of the grievous situation of flash floods at Amarnath Shrine , has issued directions in which they cancelled the leaves of all the local health staff whether permanent/temporary and asked them to report immediately.The doctors have also been asked to be available on phone call 24hrs and be on alert all the time.

It has also been ordered that the medical staff who are working in various areas of Kashmir region viz; Pulwama,Kulgam, Shopian and Anantnag and paramedical staff alongwith emergency medical kits will be sent to the Amarnath Shrine to look after the affected pilgrims. The Heads of Medical staff from Srinagar, Bandipora, Baramula and Budgam are also directed to assist the affected patients.While the concerned authorities at the Pahalgam and Baltal area are told to supply medicines to the Amarnath victims.

As many as 5000 armed police personnel are depolyed to help the casualities and 2000 police personnel have also been sent to affected spots of Panchtarni and Baltal and alongwith that 40 rescue teams are constituted which includes CRPF,NDRF,ITBP, BSF and mountain rescue team to safely rescue the people who are still stuck in the place.

The injured people have also been rescued with the help of Air Force and rushed to the local hospitals.

According to ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police), 15000 people are rescued so far and are being shifted to Panchtarni, moreover pilgrimage is suspended for now.
