To ensure that their Hindu brethren can take part in annual Amarnath Yatra with ease, a local muslim community in Jammu organised a halwa langar for them.
A person named Pervaiz Waffa who runs an NGO named Waffa Foundation organised a langar today in Jammu for Amarnath devotees. As part of this, Muslims served ‘halwa’( a thick paste made of flour or semolina sweetened with sugar) to pilgrims heading towards the holy Amarnath Shrine.

After serving them Halwa, the local muslims garlanded the pilgrims and wished them safe and blissful journey.
A pilgrim Sanjeev Rathore said, “After a decade I am going for Amarnath Yatra and I never thought we would be welcomed with such warmth by the people of Jammu. I feel so happy to be welcomed by a muslim fellowmen and I am thankful to them for organising this sweet feast for us.”
Moreover, another devotee added that he didn’t expect to receive such a welcome in the land of Sage Rishi, the philosophy is ‘Vasudheva Kutumbakam’. He prayed for safe and happy journey.
Pervaiz Waffa a local youth PDP leader revealed that such events are being organised for Amarnath devotees every year in Jammu in order to aid an auspicious and blissful pilgrimage. As a nation we need to maintain communal peace and harmony despite some elements trying to create communal tensions, we should not let them succeed in their plans.
Mr Waffa opined, “Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Issai hain sab Bhai Bhai” slogans that signifies brotherhood among the different communities should not be restricted to sloganeering only but must be practiced and implemented in its true sense.
A local Advocate Amjad Khan said, “Every year we used to organise such langars (community kitchen) for the Amarnath pilgrims but due to covid for past two years we were not able to. Our country is diverse in nature so many people from different religions and castes live here but some people want to disturb our communal harmony and by organising this langar we want to spread a message of communal harmony and love across the country”.
He further appealed the local govt to punish such miscreants who are provoking innocent people to create communal tensions.
