As the world famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath commenced on Friday in Puri , Odisha , a Shobha Yatra was taken out in reference with the same in Samba region of J&K .

An ancient temple of Lord Jagannath is located in Budhwani area of Samba district. Every year the local people here celebrate the Shobha Yatra with fervour and gaiety.
The Rath Yatra festival is an annual celebration held in Puri, in the state of Odisha. The Rath Yatra is associated with Lord Jagannath, the Lord of Universe.
It is believed that the festival started when the sister of Lord Jagannath (Subhadra) expressed her desire to visit Puri (Odisha’s State). In order to fulfil Subhadra’s wish, Lord Jagannath along with Lord Balabhadra and Subhadra left for Puri in a chariot. Since then the Jagannath festival is being observed every year as per the Hindu calendar.
President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Vankaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have greeted people on the occasion of Rath Yatra.
The yatra began on July 1st after a haitus of two years owing to coronavirus pandemic and is expected to end on July 12 th .
