The Jammu Municipal Corporation has engaged more than 350 men to smoothly facilitate the pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Yatra, starting from June 30.

“Amarnath is a famous destination for Hindu pilgrims. The yatra opens only for two months during July and August each year and this year, the duration is from June 30 to August 11,” Chander Mohan Gupta, Jammu Mayor told reporters at a press conference here.
He said the Jammu Municipal Corporation has deployed 369 men for the Yatra for waste collection and sweeping, cleaning of toilets, urinal and bathrooms, secondary transportation, waste water management and tulip fellows.

The focus of planning is on user experience – safety, security, sanitation and inclusiveness.
“We want to give visitors an experience that they have not had at previous Amarnath Yatras and various initiatives have been planned to achieve the target of achieving Swachh Amarnath Yatra 2022,” he added.

The Municipal Corporation shall ensure installation of bins for dry and wet waste segregation at camps, langar halls, collection and transportation of Municipal Solid Waste in partitioned and covered vehicles will also be ensured, said the Mayor.

He said a detailed desludging plan has been prepared by Jammu Municipal Corporation for smooth conduction of Yatra focusing on all 27 lodgements, for which four vehicles would be dedicated to de-sludge operations in existing locations.
