The Chief Taxation Officer (CTO) of the State Income Tax Department has been arrested for taking a bribe of Rs 13,000 to release TDS. The CBI team has taken this action. After the arrest, the team also raided the residence and office of the accused and recovered many documents.

A case of demanding and accepting a bribe has been registered against the accused, and further investigation has been started. Amrik Singh, who lives in Greater Kailash Lane No. 3 of Jammu, is presently posted as Chief Taxation Officer in Circle 3 Kathua of the State Income Tax Department. A complaint was lodged with the CBI by a person who said that the said officer demanded a bribe to release his TDS.

After receiving the complaint, the CBI team made a plan to arrest the accused. On Friday afternoon, the CBI team and the complainant reached outside the Greater Kailash house of the accused. The complainant called the accused out of the house. As soon as the notes were given to him, the CBI team caught him.

After this, a search was conducted at the accused’s house while a team searched the office. Finally, the CBI team questioned the accused and his family members until late evening. During this, many types of documents were confiscated after questioning.

It is also inquiring whether such allegations or complaints have come against the accused in the past. An investigation is also being done to determine how much his property is and where it is. CBI says that the investigation started after registering a case against the accused.
