After Kashmir, now Jammu has also come on the target of terrorists. Terrorists have started making their bases in hilly areas like Sunjwan, Bathindi, Chatta, Siddara, Raguda, and Bajalta on the outskirts of Jammu. The information coming out with the opening of the layers of terrorist encounters in the Sunjwan area is shocking. On April 22, two days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, two terrorists who had infiltrated from across the border in Jammu’s Sunjwan area were hiding in his house in Sunjwan by Shafiq Ahmed Sheikh, originally from Kashmir.
Shafiq had rented a room in Jammu to hide the terrorists. In the encounter in Sunjwan, security personnel had sacrificed, while both the terrorists were killed. Five days after the encounter, the Jammu Police foiled the conspiracy to carry out an IED blast in Jammu. On the one hand, terrorists are trying to shake Jammu, while there is a constant attempt to spoil the communal harmony of Jammu. Demolition of the idols of deities in the temple located in Ranguda village of Sidda could be part of this conspiracy. On the other hand, incidents of theft in temples have also suddenly increased. However, all these links are yet to be connected.
At the same time, central intelligence agencies have issued a warning that Rohingya citizens living in Jammu are being used to carry out terrorist acts. Senior officers of the Jammu Police are also taking this warning seriously. This is why the Jammu Police has started the verification of tenants afresh. Apart from this, the district police have set up its cyber cell to identify and arrest anyone who uploads provocative statements or objectionable items on the internet media. Moreover, the CID wing of the police is collecting the details of the people staying in the hotel so that if the terrorists or their helpers are hiding in the hotel, they can be nabbed in time.
