It is a matter of pride for the gymnastics fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir that Simran Kaur, a trainee from the Sports Council’s Gymnastics Academy in Jammu, has been selected to represent the country at the 17th World School Games Gymnastics-2022 in Normandy, France.
International School Games Federation’s competition Gymnaseed is the largest international multisports event for school students aged 16 to 18. It was first held in 1974 and will be the 19th event in Normandy-France from 14 to 22 May. Her coach, Arjuna Awardee Kripali Singh, has also been named the coach to represent her in this world-class event.
Simran’s father said that with the hard work of gymnastics coaches, the dedication of J&K Gymnastics Association and the timely and full support of the J&K Sports Council, J&K players are reaching new heights by winning medals at national and international levels. . He also thanked Kiran Watal, President of Jammu and Kashmir Gymnastics Association for his cooperation.
Simran has been selected to participate in the group event as a rhythmic gymnast in these prestigious sports. He was recently selected during the selection process organized by the School Games Federation of India at Balwadi Sports Complex, Pune. These trials were conducted under the close supervision of the Selection Committee and Technical Committee of the School Games Federation of India.
Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gul congratulated Simran and her coach for this splendid achievement. He said that many players prepared by Kripali had proved themselves in international competitions, and Simran is expected to perform even better.
