Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Chander Mohan Gupta today highlights various initiatives taken by JMC to make Jammu a neat, clean, Green & garbage/ plastic-free city.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mayor, in the presence of Sh. Hardeep Singh Mankotia Chairman Swacch Bharat committee JMC, Sh. Ajay Gupta, Chairman Social Justice Committee JMC, told that Jammu Municipal Corporation had been awarded 2nd prize in terms of Material Recovery Facility (MRF) after Orissa State, and this prestigious award will be given to JMC on 28th of April 2022 by Govt. at New Delhi which is due to the hard work, dedication, collective efforts taken by all the councillors & officers/officials of JMC with the full cooperation of Citizens of Jammu & working as a team.
He further said that after the 74th constitutional amendment by the Govt. and the transfer of functions & functionaries of various departments, including Jal Shakti, JPDCL etc., all the councillors, in coordination with concerned officers, are working tirelessly in a transparent manner to provide the best possible amenities in each ward irrespective of any caste, creed or religion.
To resolve the major issues which the citizens of Jammu are facing in this hot weather condition regarding poor supply of drinking water, he has personally conducted several meetings, which Madam Avny Lavasa Commissioner JMC has attended, Madam Seema Bhasin, Director Finance, Madam Shivani Bhan Chief Accounts Officer JMC, Mr Gharu Ram Chief Accounts Officer PHE, Mr M.N Nakshbandi Superintending Engineer Jal Shakti Deptt. PHE Mechanical (Urban circle Jammu), Mr Vijay Kumar Gupta XEN City Division-I, Mr Atul Kumar XEN PHE City Division II, S. Harsharan Singh XEN (PHE Mechanical) Jammu North, Mr Vijay Suman XEN (PHE Mechanical) Jammu South and directed the concerned to release the required number of funds for repair & other allied works regarding PHE on urgent basis. Besides this, the concerned XENs have been directed strictly to make the water supply through tankers daily when there is an acute shortage of drinking water.
He further told him, along with Sh. Raj Kumar, Chairman health & Sanitation Committee JMC, Madam Avny Lavasa Commissioner JMC, Engineers of Jal Shakti Deptt(Urban) visited Shitlee Filtration Plant at Nagrota yesterday on 25/04/2022 to assess water woes & to overcome the water crises in Jammu City & directed the concerned Engineers of Jal Shakti to take all preventive measures on a war footing for improving the better functioning of the plant as well as Boria & Dhountaly Filtration Plant in an effective manner.
Besides this, PDD Department was also directed to supply 24×7 power to the dedicated feeders of PHE for the smooth running of the water supply.
Mayor also extended sincere gratitude to Sh. Manoj Singh Ji Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of UT of J&K for considering the long pending demands of Daily wage earners, including casual labourers in all Govt departments as well as in Municipalities and local bodies, by increasing their wages from Rs 225/ to Rs 300/- per day w.e.f 1st of April 2022. He further said that Daily wagers are playing a significant role in the overall development of UT of J&K with exemplary commitment & dedication to work, and our Govt. will leave no stone unturned to establish principles of equality, welfare & social justice in the governance as the labour and employment department has already prepared a comparative statement of minimum wages prevalent in other states/UTs of the country.
