BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh today took a strong exception to the manner Punjab police raided Kumar Vishvas’s house in Ghaziabad in UP and said that Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on behalf of his mentor Arvind Kejriwal was making blatant misuse of Punjab police force to unleash political vendetta against Kejriwal’s rivals.
Chugh said the Punjab police had registered three such cases against the BJP leaders in Delhi and Maharashtra who have never visited Punjab for political reasons.” Yet the Punjab police has booked them in false and cooked-up cases to harass and intimidate them.”, he said.
Chugh said there are reports that Punjab police have also raided Delhi leader Alka Lamba’s house today.
He strongly condemned how a case was registered against Delhi-based BJP leader Naveen Kumar for allegedly doctoring a video clip of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. The video clip was posted on April 6 with a disclaimer, but regardless of it, the Punjab police have filed a case on the complaint of Gurbhej Singh, who works for the legal cell of AAP.
Chugh said the first indication of AAP’s political vendetta came around when the Punjab police registered a case against a BJP activist in Maharashtra for tweeting about Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s removal picture in the chief minister’s office. An AAP Mohali district office-bearer complained in the cyber cell of the state police.
Similarly, the cyber cell of the Punjab police recently booked BJP youth activist TP Singh Bagga, who had reportedly led the agitation against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the context of his comments on the film Kashmir Files.
Chugh condemned the AAP’s designs to politicise the police force and warned it against using it in other states to settle political scores.
