Yudhveer Singh Charak, a cricketer from Jammu got selected for Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2021. His brother, Bhanu Pratap Singh, a Wushu player who represents India at International level and has won bronze in Asian Games gave his exclusive interview with senior executive of JK Media, Ashish Kohli.
Bhanu praised Yudhveer about his dedication towards the sport and his willingness to do something big.
Q. Bhanu, tell something about Yudhveer.
Yudhveer has always been passionate about sports. We studied together in Tiny Tots School and played Wushu. He was good at that Wushu too. Then he shifted to KC International School and started playing cricket. He developed interest in the game and soon excelled in that. His journey has been great.
Q. Did he get family support? How determined he was?
Yudhveer’s father was his biggest support. I remember when went to Punjab to play at State level, he got us eatables and insisted us to just focus on our game. If he did this for me, imagine the amount of support for his own child. Yudhveer was always determined to do something out of the box and dreamt of playing for India. He’s made all of us proud. I’m just waiting for him to return and give him a hug.
Q. Something you would like to say to the young sportspersons of Jammu.
Sports is life for all the sportspersons. Why wouldn’t people from Jammu play at National level if they are determined? We have Abdul Samad playing for IPL and now Yudhveer. I have represented our Country. It is the biggest honour. Our boys aren’t much into drugs and that’s a good point. So, put your efforts, try hard, be positive and you will get the result.
