Kashmiri youth paid tribute to CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other officers and jawans by lighting candles on Thursday evening. In a tribute ceremony organized by Save Youth Save Future Foundation at Ghantaghar, Lal Chowk, youth Izrat Amin said, the kind of relationship General Rawat has had with Kashmir cannot be described in words.
Izrat said Bipin Rawat had started peace in the valley. He used to ask people to give up violence. But, Izrat noted, as long as we are alive, all of us youth will carry forward this mission of his. While another youth Wajahat Farooq Bhat said, Bipin Rawat had shown a dream to Kashmiris, which he made come true.
The distance between the people and the army was also reduced. His passing is unfortunate for us. Lt Gen DP Pandey, who reached the tribute ceremony, said that when he saw the youth paying tribute on TV, he could not stop and came here directly. He said that General Bipin Rawat was not only an army general, but he was also associated with the people. He had time for the people.
IGP Vijay Kumar said General Rawat is our role model. I was SSP Kupwara when he was Sector Commander Sopore. He used to meet a lot. Recently, during the visit of the President in July, the meeting also took place. He is our source of inspiration. His passing is a massive loss for Kashmir and all the security agencies. We will follow his path and fulfil his dream, remaining unfulfilled.
