A youth riding a motorcycle died under suspicious circumstances in Akhnoor’s Ambara area. While his brother was injured. The family members of the slain youth are alleging that he was murdered, while the Akhnoor police are telling the death of the child as a road accident.
On Tuesday night, the family members of the youth reached outside the Akhnoor police station and demonstrated. They were accusing two youths of killing the motorcyclist. The accident happened late last Monday night. Ram Pal Sharma and his brother Vinod Sharma went from Akhnoor’s cement bridge to Steel bridge when their motorcycle met with an accident under suspicious circumstances.
Both the brothers Rampal and Vinod Sharma, who were riding motorcycles, were admitted to the hospital. Rampal died during treatment. The Akhnoor police registered a case against Rampal’s death as a road accident. At the same time, on Tuesday night, Ram Pal’s family gathered outside Akhnoor police station with his brother Vinod Sharma, who was injured and demanded registration of a case of murder. Vinod Sharma, who was injured in the accident, said that some people fought with him. When he was going on a motorcycle at the time of the accident, he was attacked by two assailants.
His brother Rampal, who was sitting in the back seat of the motorcycle, was seriously injured. The attackers also hit him, causing severe injury to his face. Ram Pal died in this attack. SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandiyal said that he has spoken to the family of Rampal, who was killed in the accident. The allegations levelled by him will be investigated. If the matter of murder comes to the fore during the investigation, then action will be taken accordingly.
Beware: Lady thief roaming the streets of Roop Nagar
Another theft case of ₹7,200 has been reported from a boutique named ” The Hanger’ located on the main road in Roop Nagar, Jammu.
A lady who visited the boutique duped the owner and took away garments amounting to a total of ₹7,200.
The owner at first didn’t recognise the lady, but she pretended as if she was their regular customer.
“After selecting the garments, she asked for an assistant boy to come along and will make the payment to him as she reaches her residence”, the owner said.
She instead fooled the owner and the boy as well and wasn’t seen anywhere after that.
The boutique owner has filed a complaint in the nearest police station on January 18.
Police are investigating the matter, and soon the lady thief would be caught; till then, the locals are advised to beware of such miscreants.

Jammu’s Super Specialty Hospital wears deserted look
The premises of the Government Super Specialty Hospital Jammu wore a deserted look after many management officials, doctors, and paramedic staff tested positive for COVID-19.
With a surge in COVID-19 cases, the Out Patient Department (OPD) also saw a minimum presence of patients.
On their entry to the hospital, Rapid Antigen Tests are performed on the patients.
“The people who return COVID-19 positive results are not permitted entry into the hospital while people with negative reports are allowed to move into the OPD,” an official said.
“The authorities are allowing only 50 patients in each department of OPD for a checkup every day while around 150 patients used to visit the departments usually,” the official said.
He said that the people had also become conscious and they too were avoiding coming to the hospital unless it was an emergency.
“Routine surgeries have been stopped and only emergency surgeries are being conducted in the operation theatres,” the official said. “Around one-third of people come for an OPD checkup at the hospital now. As the people are tested on their entry to the hospital, many avoid coming to the hospital.”
