Women Handicapped association holds hunger strike in Jammu

The women of the J&K Handicapped Association today held a hunger strike in Jammu. Our executive talked with these women about their demands.
While speaking a protestor said “from the past 7 days we are sitting on the roads but no one is listening to our demands. We have a 4% quota in various government jobs but that also we aren’t getting from the J&K government. Every month we are provided with 1,000 rupees but how a person can meet his daily needs with just a small amount. I am an engineer and I am only demanding what I deserve. I don’t want to be a burden on my family. On Friday a lady official assured us that by 1 pm all our demands will be met but nothing happened. Later they asked us to send 4 people from here to talk with the administration but we want that the talks should take place in the presence of everyone otherwise no talk will take place. If they are afraid of Corona then they can talk with us from a distance”.
Another protestor said, “We demand that our pension should be increased from 1,000 to 4,000, implementation of Disabilities Act 2016 and special recruitment drive for handicapped people ”.
