Srinagar:
A weak weather system is expected to affect parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the next 18 hours, bringing rain and snow showers at isolated places, officials said on Friday.
According to weather observations, the probability of precipitation remains higher over South Kashmir, where intermittent rain and snow showers may occur during the period. Higher reaches of the region are likely to receive light to moderate snowfall, while lower areas may witness light rain.
In the Jammu region, light rain showers are expected at a few places, including Verinag and Shahabad areas, which have already witnessed heavy snowfall in recent days. Weather experts said that gusty winds and isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out, particularly during late evening and night hours.
Authorities have advised people, especially those travelling through higher altitude areas, to remain cautious as fresh snowfall may lead to slippery road conditions in vulnerable stretches. Farmers and orchardists have also been advised to keep a watch on weather advisories due to the possibility of brief spells of rain.
The weather is expected to improve gradually after the system weakens, though officials said further updates will be issued depending on its movement and intensity.
