Navratri is going on. Know what that means? It’s the perfect time to doll up. For some of us Navratri implies dandiya and Garba sessions all through the night, others look forward to the religious side of things. Although we cannot deny that Covid has changed a lot of things for us this year but that doesn’t mean that we can’t get ready and make the most of this, one of the most integral festivals of Indian culture. I created this simple look this Navratri using a very basic eyeshadow palette. This look can be tried by almost everyone considering everyone has these simple products at home.
If you’re wondering how to create this Navratri look then please take a look at these four simple steps:-
Hydrate and Moisturize
If you notice my skin closely, you’d know that my face looks super hydrated yet the base is even and set perfectly. To get this base makeup, moisturize your skin with a cream that suits your skin type and then use any Primer all over your face to cover your pores. This will give you a well prepped base to layer other products on the top of it. Here, I have used Biotique Morning Nectar Flawless Skin Lotion for All Skin Types.
Now go with the foundation and choose it on the basis of the coverage your skin needs. Use less foundation especially if you are going to be dancing all night long (obviously at an indoor Navratri get-together). You can go for a completely matte or normal finish that stays in place even for hours of you dancing to the tunes of different songs. Here I have used Wet ‘n Wild Photo Focus Foundation. Make sure that you moisturize your skin pretty well if you are going for this foundation or any matte one because they tend to cling onto the dry patches and you don’t want that.
Now, comes the most important part which is concealing. We cannot look our best without concealing our sleepless nights, can we? Worry no more, concealer is our saviour. Apply it under your eyes or on any areas that need more coverage. Dab it with your beauty sponge and make sure that there is no creasing under your eyes. I haven’t used any lighter shade of concealer over here because I wanted to use less product under my eyes for this look. The concealer that I have used for this look is the Maybelline New York Fit me Concealer. There’s a reason this concealer is a holy grail in my kit. Not only does it give your skin a natural and soft finish, but it’s also the easiest product to use with any beauty tool of your choice including fingertips.
Set Your Base
Keeping your makeup in place is a challenge for even the most unaffected skin. Hiding fine lines, blemishes while creating a smooth look that lasts for hours on end at a steal of a price can only be done by a good yet affordable setting powder. Here I have used, Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder. you can use any that works just fine for your skin and gives you that long-lasting finish.
Blush and Highlighter
Nothing against concealer or mascara, but blush might very well be our desert island makeup must. It’s one product and step in your routine that can make a major difference. Just a quick swipe of a powder or a few dabs of a cream imparts a fresh, rosy glow, instantly making you look healthier, morewide awake, and generally better. If you don’t have one just take any rosy lip color from your makeup collection and dab that color on to your cheeks.
Highlighter is meant to mimic the way natural light (such as candlelight or sunlight) catches and reflects off the high-points of your face. It has the added benefit of giving a dewy, fresh look to skin and can help makeup look less makeup-y Glowing, healthy-looking skin is always in. Need proof? Just take a look at your favorite celebrities but don’t worry about spending a celebrity’s budget for lit skin — there are so many options at every price point, no matter where you are in your pay cycle and no matter which format you prefer. Here I have used Makeup Revolution London Golden Sugar 2, Rose Gold. This might be a little expensive for some but you can completely check out some awesome ones in a more affordable range.
For this eye look, take any basic eyeshadow with brown toned colors in it. Take a light brown eyeshadow and swipe it across your lid properly. For the next step, take a more warm brown and apply it on the outer corners and blend nicely. That’s it. You don’t need a hundred colors to try out your hands on this simple yet elegant makeup look. The palette that I have used here is Swiss Beauty HD Professional 40 Color Eyeshadow Palette. Also, don’t forget to add drama to your lashes by adding two coats of mascara on them.
Lastly for the lips, I went for a subtle pink with Mauvy undertones. The idea here is to choose a shade that can add a little color and warmth to your otherwise simple makeup. I have used the Nykaa So Matte Lipstick – Racy Rose 04 M, perfect for any day to night time look.
So, these were all the steps for this super simple makeup look.
