Anantnag dec 06: Bijbehara Police in South Kashmir have arrested two long-absconding accused wanted in connection with a 2009 case registered at Police Station Bijbehara, officials said.
The arrested persons were identified as Bashir Ahmed Bhat and Noor Mohammad Kalwal of Natipora, Srinagar. Both had been evading arrest for several years.
Police said the case pertains to offences registered under Sections 147, 336 and 332 of the Ranbir Penal Code, along with Section 13 of the ULA(P) Act. Officials said sustained efforts and renewed tracking of old cases led to the arrests.Officials said that the police are continuing efforts to trace and apprehend other absconders involved in old and pending cases across the district to strengthen accountability and uphold the rule of law.
