Transgender community protest in Jammu

Transgender community continued their protest in Jammu today outside Civil Sachiwala. They protest was held against alleged castration of 4 transgenders.
“I am a widow and have 2 children. I raised them but now am helpless. They were forced to change their gender. Police is not helping us (cries).” Mother of a victim said.

The protestors accused J&K Police of ‘shielding the accused’. They said that the Police was deliberately delaying the arrest of Sonia (the culprit)
“4 of our community members were forced to change their genders and were thrown in our area. We complained from highest to the lowest rank official about the matter but no one took any action. We don’t like to protest on roads in front of public and trouble them. They are like our family. The public gives us our living and food. We are forced to do this.”
“Some of the victims are orphans while some have their own kids. What answer will we give to them? Arresting Sonia is a 20 minute work. It’s been one month and we’ve held 3 protests but the Police has closed it’s ears. We want to get her arrested and get justice.” said Rani Maant, a transgender
