Train Services Resumed After 11 Months In Kashmir

After remaining suspended for 11 months due to the covid-19 pandemic train services to resume today in Kashmir. The train in Kashmir runs from Banihal to Baramulla covering a distance of 137 km and 17 stations on the route.

As per the sources, a dry run was conducted yesterday between Baramulla and Banihal. The train will leave from Banihal at 11:25 am while from Baramulla it will leave by 9:10 am. There will be 2 trips in the beginning which later will be increased.

Tweeting about it, Union railways minister Piyush Goyal said on Sunday, “Railways to resume train operations in Kashmir valley on Banihal-Baramulla section from February 22, with two services operating initially. This will enhance ease of movement and provide a big boost to the tourism sector.”

The rail services were suspended on March 19, 2020, owing to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
