Things were scattered on the floor. Cash amount of Rupees 1 lakh has been stolen that I had saved for my sister’s marriage. I am Kashmiri Pandit and gold is our most important possession. It’s a great loss for us.”
“All the things are on the floor like they were after the theft because we are forbidden to touch them. Police visited our houses and complaint has been filed. Till now, we haven’t calculated how much and what’ll things have been stolen. We belong to middle class families. We work whole day and save for our future. Such tragedies can change one’s life in bad terms.” said the resident of Quarter 285, Amrit.
No CCTV camera covered the incident. The residents complained about the lack of security in the society.
“I’ve lived here for 12 years now. Nothing such happened till date. Last week a scooty was stolen and we complained to Police. No action was taken. The security guards get their payments but don’t do their duties. We are Secretariat employees and will go back to Kashmir in April. Who knows what will happen behind us. We’ve requested the Chief Secretary and now request the State Director to focus on our quarters and provide us a safer place.” Said a resident
