Srinagar, Jan 3: Cold conditions continued across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Saturday, with several parts of the Kashmir Valley recording sub-zero minimum temperatures, while Ladakh experienced severe cold.
Srinagar recorded a low of minus 1.5°C, and Srinagar Airport saw minus 2.0°C. Gulmarg remained the coldest in the Kashmir region at minus 6.5°C, followed by Pahalgam at minus 5.2°C.
Other Valley areas recorded freezing lows: Shopian minus 4.7°C, Pulwama minus 3.9°C, Anantnag minus 3.0°C, Qazigund minus 2.6°C, Awantipora minus 2.4°C, Budgam minus 2.0°C, Kupwara and Ganderbal minus 1.6°C each, Kokernag minus 0.8°C, Baramulla minus 0.5°C, Bandipora minus 0.2°C, and Kulgam 1.3°C.
In the Jammu region, temperatures remained above freezing in most areas. Jammu city recorded 7.9°C, Jammu Airport 8.8°C, Bhaderwah minus 1.5°C, Banihal 2.7°C, Batote 4.2°C, Udhampur 5.0°C, Rajouri 3.2°C, and Kishtwar 3.6°C.
Ladakh recorded the coldest readings, with Kargil at minus 11.2°C, Leh minus 10.6°C, and Nubra Valley minus 8.2°C.
Officials said the cold is likely to continue, particularly in higher reaches, with night temperatures remaining below normal in many areas.
