A major public meeting titled “Statehood Now” will be held on July 23, 2025, at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, focusing on the demand for restoring the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir. The event is being organized by the Forum for Human Rights in J&K to mark six years since the revocation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the erstwhile state.

The meeting, scheduled from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, will feature prominent leaders including Dr. Farooq Abdullah (NC), Mohd Yousuf Tarigami (CPI(M)), Surinder Choudhary Dy CM , Justice Anjana Prakash, and others. Senior representatives from Congress, RJD, DMK, SP, and multiple civil society organizations will also attend.

The agenda will revolve around critical issues such as statehood restoration, constitutional protections, political representation, and human rights in the Union Territory of J&K. The panel will also discuss the ongoing demand for full democratic rights in Ladakh.

The event comes at a time when the political temperature over statehood and electoral representation in the region is rising, especially after fresh discussions in Parliament and national forums.

Citizens, rights groups, and students from various institutions are expected to join the event in solidarity with the democratic aspirations of the region.
