Srinagar Nov 27 : Srinagar recorded its coldest night of the season on Wednesday as temperatures slipped to -4.4°C, tightening the grip of winter across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Several parts of the Valley saw an even sharper plunge, with Shopian touching -6.5°C and Pulwama and Baramulla settling around -5.8°C.

Pampore dropped to -5.5°C, Anantnag to -5.7°C, while Srinagar Airport logged -5.2°C. Pahalgam reached -5.0°C, and many other stations stayed well below freezing, including Budgam (-4.6°C), Bandipora (-4.5°C), Awantipora (-4.0°C), Sonamarg (-4.0°C), Ganderbal (-3.3°C), and Qazigund (-4.0°C). Kokernag was slightly warmer at -1.6°C, and Gulmarg hovered around -1.0°C.

In north Kashmir, Zethan Rafiabad dipped to -5.2°C, while the coldest spot remained Zojila Pass, which plunged to a biting -16°C.

Temperatures in the Jammu plains stayed above freezing, with Jammu at 8.7°C, Katra 8.5°C, Kathua 8.2°C, and Jammu Airport 10.1°C. Higher areas remained colder: Banihal (-1.5°C), Bhaderwah (0.4°C), Batote (4.0°C), Ramban (4.1°C), Rajouri (2.0°C), Kishtwar (3.4°C), Reasi (6.9°C), Samba (6.9°C), and Udhampur (4.6°C).

Winter’s chill held firm in Ladakh as well, with Leh at -8.6°C, Kargil -9.5°C, and Nubra -7.7°C.
