Srinagar, Nov 13: Srinagar experienced the coldest night of the season as temperatures dropped to minus 2.1°C, marking a sharp dip as winter tightens its grip over the Kashmir Valley.
According to the Meteorological Department, Pahalgam remained the coldest location in the valley, recording a minimum temperature of minus 3.8°C. The chilly conditions led to frost formation on vehicles and rooftops in several parts of the region.
Director MeT, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, said that no major weather disturbance is expected over the next week. “There is no forecast of any wet spell till November 17, though the night temperatures are likely to remain nearly the same,” he said.
He added that a slight rise in night temperatures is expected after November 17, lasting for two to three days before cold conditions return.
The ongoing dry spell has intensified the early winter chill across the valley, with residents preparing for colder days ahead.
