Scuffle at Ban Toll Plaza Nagrota, 2 people seriously injured

A scuffle happened at Ban Toll Plaza Nagrota last night where 2 persons were seriously injured. According to the victims, the toll plaza in charge asked for toll inspite of fastag and then beat them for extra money. The injured are admitted in GMC, Jammu.

Shabir Ahmad, one of the 5 members in the car said “We came to Jammu from Udhampur to buy goods for our shop. As we reached the Toll Plaza, in charge told us to pay through fastag and not cash. We recharged it with 750 rupees. While returning, they told to pay 280 rupees for toll. Since, we had fastag we told them recharge instead of paying cash. They insisted us to stop our car due to traffic.”

“As my friend stepped out, 4-5 men came and hit him. We tried to save him but more 20-25 men from the plaza came out and hit us hard. One of us got a seriously injury in his arm and now is in emergency ward. CRPF officials and local Policemen were present there but none of them helped us. We went to Nagrota Police Station and complained about the incident. Police officials took us to Sarval Hospital but then our friend was referred to GMC on being serious.” He added

Shabir complained about the misbehaviour and increasing crimes in the UT.

“We all 5 people belong to Chenani tehsil of Udhampur district. We are contractors and are working on a contract with AIMS Jammu. We are disappointed with the behaviour of Toll in charges. Even the Toll Plaza members in uniform beat us and blackmailed to kill us if we informed the Police but we are thankful to Police to take us to the Hospital. This is an open crime and something should be done to improve the situations in the UT.” He said

“We want the Police to do the verification of the case. The CCTV camera has recorded the whole incident. 2 mobiles and a chain are at the spot. We want justice for whatever happened with us otherwise our families will sit and protest at the Ban Toll Plaza.” He added
