Recruitment of Border Battalions | Dates for PET, PST announced

The Chairman of Police Recruitment Board for 2 Border Battalions in J&K Police has announced the schedule for conducting a physical standard test and physical endurance test of the candidates hailing from the Ladakh (district Kargil and Leh).

According to the notification, all the candidates belonging to Ladakh who had applied for the post of constables in 2 Border battalions that their Physical Endurance Test and Physical Standard Test (PET and PST) would be conducted on 28th and 29th July 2021 and 3rd August 2021 at the venues reflected in their admit cards.

The notification reads that all the applicants conforming to the prescribed educational, physical and other required standards as per the advertisement notice issued were advised to download their admit cards from 10 July 2021 from the official website of J&K Police www.jkpolice.gov.in. All the candidates are required to bring along with them downloaded copy of admit cards, valid ID proof, all original testimonials, latest Covid-19 free (RTPCR) certificate and no risk certificate on the date of test.

The Covid (RTPCR) test must have been conducted within 48 hours from the date of physical test. The appearing candidates should reach the venue as per scheduled time qnd date reflected in their respective admits cards.

The candidates are also directed to ensure compliance of the instructions given in the admit cards.

Earthquake tremors felt in parts of Union Territory

An Earthquake of magnitude 3.6 on the Richter scale hit Leh, Ladakh at 4:57 am on Wednesday, according to the National Centre for Seismology.

As per the National Center for Seismology, Leh in Ladakh was the epicentre of the earthquake.

“Earthquake of Magnitude: 3.6, Occurred on 21-07-2021, 04:57:46 IST, Lat: 34.20 & Long: 77.78, Depth: 200 Km ,Location: 19 km ENE of Leh, Laddakh, India,” the National Center for Seismology tweeted.

Earthquake tremors felt in parts of Union Territory

An Earthquake measuring 3.7 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Leh in the Union Territory of Ladakh on Sunday, officials said.

They said the tremors which were felt at 1008 hrs Sunday lasted few seconds.

There was no report of any loss of life or damage to property, they said , adding further details are being assimilated.

Centre to introduce bill for establishing Central University in Ladakh

The Government of India is planning to introduce a bill for setting up Central University in Ladakh Union Territory in the upcoming monsoon session of the Parliament starting from July 19.

The Centre intends to introduce “The Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2021 to amend the Central Universities Act-2009 for setting up the Central University in Ladakh UT.

The announcement for establishing the Central University in Ladakh was made in the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Feb 01 this year.

“For accessible higher education in Ladakh. I propose to set up a central university in Leh,” Sitharaman had said while presenting the budget of the ongoing fiscal.

As per report, this will be the second varsity in Ladakh region. The government of Jammu and Kashmir has planned to set up the first-ever university in Ladakh.

In December 2018, the State Administrative Council (SAC) headed by J&K’s Governor Satya Pal Malik, had approved a bill for establishment of Cluster University in Ladakh.

The Cluster University is spread over five colleges of Leh and Kargil districts. It was established with an initial grant of Rs 65 crore
