Pulse polio immunization program held in Bhaderwah

One day Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IIPI) Programme held here today at Bhaderwah during which thousands of children of 0 to 5 years age group were administered polio vaccination drops to protect them against the crippling disease besides eradicating the menace of polio from the district Doda and sub district Bhaderwah .
Doctors have appealed that all parents should immunize their kids without having any doubt or fear about the spread of Covid-19.“Polio dose is must and we are going to be a part of the world’s largest immunization exercise. Follow physical distancing and wear masks on faces while you take your kids for polio dose.There is no need to fear about Covid-19 as the virus never spreads through such type of immunization exercises,”said Block Medical Officer Bhaderwah Shakeel Ahmed adding that thousands of children’s were given drops in Bhaderwah in one day programme . Polio booths are installed at Mohalla Khakhal , Old Hospital , Pasri bus stand , Sartingal , Chinta , Bhalla , Seri , Udrana , Domail and other areas of Bhaderwah .Advocate Mohd Majid Malik ,said prevention is very simple, by giving potent polio vaccine to the child in full doses at appropriate age the child can be protected against Polio. He also informed that Polio is a spreading disease, which causes permanent disability in a child. It is caused by a virus which spreads through contaminated food and water. It grows in the human intestine and is excreted through stools. If a child is infected with poliovirus, it causes fever for a couple of days and involves the nerve cells in the brain and spinal chord leading to paralysis and the child is permanently crippled.
