Pregnant woman, Govt teacher, STO among fresh deaths in J&K



J&K reported 51 Covid-19 related deaths and 3308 positive cases in the last 24-hours, with majority of fatalities being reported from Jammu, and infected cases from Kashmir.

A State Taxes Officer (STO) died of post COVID complications while a Supervisor of the State Taxes Department has died of COVID-19.

A 26-year-old pregnant woman from Bishnah died of the virus in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu. A retired Government teacher succumbed to the virus at Drubeel in District Hospital Kishtwar.

As per the details shared by the health department, 34 patients succumbed in various healthcare institutions in Jammu division and 17 Covid attributed deaths were reported from Kashmir.

The highest number of deaths was recorded in GMC Jammu where 15 persons died. As per the data, 01 death was reported in GMC Kathua, 02 in GMC Rajouri, 01 in GH Rajouri, 02 in MH Jammu, 02 in CD Hosp Jammu, 01 in Amandeep Amritsar, 01 in EMC Amritsar, 01 in PGI Chandigarh, 01 in DH Reasi, 01 in DH Samba, 02 in DH Udhampur, 01 in CHC Mendhar, 02 in SMVDNH, Katra, 01 in SSH Jammu and 01 in Home/Brought Dead.

The data further showed that one death was reported in SKIMS Soura, 04 in SMHS Srinagar, 01 in DH Shopian, 01 in DH Kulgam, 01 in GMC Anantnag, 01 in SKIMS JVC Bemina, 04 in GMC Baramulla, 02 in JLNM Srinagar & 01 in Trauma Hosp Bijbehara.

The total number of Covid deaths in J&K has reached to 3564 of which 1861 were reported in Kashmir and 1703 in Jammu division.

J&K for the past one week has been witnessing daily deaths in excess of 40.

As far as the Covid-19 positive cases are concerned, J&K witnessed a dip in daily caseload. On Sunday, the number of persons tested positive was 3308 which is around 1500 less than the daily tally recorded during last week. Health officials attribute dip in infection cases to the lockdown which is currently imposed across all the districts of J&K.

Out of total cases reported, 1121 were reported in Jammu and 2187 in Kashmir division, taking the total count to 270621.

Srinagar reported 512 cases, Baramulla 239, Budgam 401, Pulwama 160, Kupwara 265, Anantnag 150, Bandipora 111, Ganderbal 127, Kulgam 159, Shopian 63, Jammu 447, Udhampur 77, Rajouri 96, Doda 75, Kathua 98, Samba 93, Kishtwar 29, Poonch 74, Ramban 71and Reasi 61.

Currently there are 47437 active positive cases in J&K, of which 28034 are in Kashmir and 19403 in Jammu.

As per the official data, 3085 patients are admitted in hospitals across J&K, of which 2562 are on oxygen support and 131 on ventilator support.

However, the silver lining is that the number of recoveries has increased as 4956 more covid-19 patients have recovered including 1883 from Jammu division and 3073 from Kashmir.


India reports lowest one-day rise in COVID-19 cases after 71 days




India on Sunday (June 13, 2021) reported its lowest one-day rise in the COVID-19 cases after 71 days. The country recorded 80,834 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the figures by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare showed.

India’s active caseload has now declined to 10,26,159, while the weekly positivity rate has dropped to 4.74% and the daily positivity rate stands at 4.25%.

There were also 3,303 coronavirus-related deaths between Saturday and Sunday morning.

So far, there have been 2.94 crore cases and 3.70 lakh fatalities across the country.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare also informed that 1,32,062 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. India now has registered 2.80 crore recoveries and the recovery rate has improved to 95.26%.

Meanwhile, more than 25.31 crore coronavirus vaccine doses have been administered across the country.

COVID-19 Updates: India Reports 84,332 New Cases, 4,002 Deaths




India on Saturday morning reported 84,332 new COVID-19 cases, lowest in 70 days, and 4,002 deaths in the last 24 hours. As per the latest health ministry update, 24,96,00,304 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, with 34,33,763 taking the jab in the last 24 hours. The total active cases have dropped by 40,981 and now stands at 10,80,690.
The country saw 1,21,311 recoveries during past one-day period with 2,79,11,384 people having recovered in total. The recovery rate has increased to 95.07 per cent, a government release pointed out.

The country’s weekly positivity rate is currently at 4.94 per cent while the daily positivity rate is 4.39 per cent, remaining below the 10 per cent mark for 19 consecutive days.

Tamil Nadu is among the bottom five states in terms of vaccinating its population against coronavirus. So far, the state has inoculated only nine per cent of its seven-crore population with the first dose of the vaccine. This has put the state right at the bottom of the list of states with low vaccination percentage along with UP, Assam, Bihar and Jharkhand.

COVID-19: J&K reports 17 deaths, 906 positive cases




The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Friday witnessed 17 deaths due to Covid-19 while as 906 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 17,585

With 17 more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached to 4,160 and 906 fresh positive cases reported on Friday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 305,772

Of the exact number of 305,772 cases, 189,274 are from Kashmir division and 116,498 from Jammu division. Officials told  that among 906 new cases, 662 belong to Kashmir division while as 244 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 189,274 including 176,023 recoveries and 2,138 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 116,498 including 108,004 recoveries and 2,022 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 17,585 including 11,113 from Kashmir division and 6,472 from Jammu division.

With 1,885 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 284,027 which is 92.88 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 156 from Srinagar, 86 from Baramulla, 92 from Budgam, 63 from Pulwama, 74 from Kupwara, 54 from Anantnag, 44 from Bandipora, 31 from Ganderbal, 53 from Kulgam and 09 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 244 from Jammu division include 53 from Jammu, 19 from Udhampur, 39 from Rajouri, 21 from Doda, 11 from Kathua, 21 from Samba, 14 from Kishtwar, 43 from Poonch, 18 from Ramban and 05 from Reasi,” officials disclosed

Meanwhile, authorities on Friday said that no fresh case of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported and toll stands at 18.

Out of 17 deaths reported today, 01 died in GMC Jammu, 02 in GMC Rajouri, 03 in GMC Doda, 01 in DH Reasi, 03 in Home/ Brought Dead, 04 in SMHS Sgr, 01 in SKIMS Soura, 01 in SKIMS JVC Bemina & 01 in GMC Anantnag.

As per officials figures, 67,915 positive cases including 809 deaths and 64,615 recoveries are from Srinagar, 22,584 including 272 deaths and 20,435 recoveries are from Baramulla, 21,675 including 20,232 recoveries and 199 deaths are from Budgam, 14,294 including 12,797 recoveries and 180 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,130 including 151 deaths and 12,026 recoveries are from Kupwara, 15,412 including 14,298 recoveries and 191 deaths are from Anantnag, 8,917 cases including 8,437 and 98 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,234 including 8,629 recoveries and 71 deaths are from Ganderbal, 10,630 including 9,498 recoveries and 109 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,483 including 5,056 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 51,931 including 48,379 recoveries and 1,114 deaths are from Jammu district, 10,966 including 10,528 recoveries and 131 deaths are from Udhampur, 10,306 including 9,474 recoveries and 200 deaths are from Rajouri, 6,277 including 5,154 recoveries and 94 deaths are from Doda, 9,045 including 8,738 recoveries and 147 deaths are from Kathua, 6,964 including 6,495 recoveries and 116 deaths are from Samba, 4,217 including 3,979 recoveries and 39 deaths are from Kishtwar, 5,784 including 4,910 recoveries and 82 deaths are from Poonch, 5,532 including 5,074 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Ramban and 5,476 including 5,273 recoveries and 41 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 2,216,384 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 70,906 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 17,685 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,987,934 persons have completed surveillance period and 135,799 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 9,083,419 samples are available. Out of 9,083,419 the number of samples tested negative stands at 8,777,647 while as 304,866 have tested positive, among them 17,585 persons are active, 284,027 persons have recovered and 4,160 persons have died
