We Want Jobs Not Loan: Protesting Dental Surgeons

Last week J&K LG Manoj Sinha announced that the government would provide financial assistance to dental surgeons. “Govt to provide financial aid to dental surgeons to start their clinic. In the first phase, 400 dental surgeons and 800 paramedics will be selected for a specially tailored self-employment scheme”, the statement of LG reads.

The protesting dental surgeons have not agreed to accept financial assistance from the government and have continued their protest to demand government jobs. The protestors said that if the government doesn’t have funds for us, the government should shut down the dental college as they increase unemployment.

While talking to JK Media, a surgeon said, “it’s unfortunate why the LG is not listening to us. We have staged a peaceful protest so that our demands could reach the LG. The LG has announced financial assistance for us, but we don’t accept his decision as if we need a loan, we have applied for it at any bank. We are not demanding something illegal. All we want is that the government should conduct an exam, and if we fail in the exam, then we can’t blame the government”.

“If the government is giving jobs to all other branches, then why not to our fraternity? The government is releasing one statement only that there are no funds for us, but they are releasing funds for other branches, then there must be some corruption in government that’s why they are not releasing funds for us. The government is also saying that the medical department is getting privatized, then the government should shut down the government colleges and also privatize the MBBS surgeons”, a female surgeon said.

Uncontrolled Car Hits Several Other Parked Vehicles at Pir Mitha, Shopkeepers Sets an Example

The shopkeepers of Pir Mitha have set an example for everyone with their gesture. In a CCTV Footage accessed by JK Media, a black-coloured car was seen hitting the other parked vehicles. When someone hits their car with ours, we usually get engaged in a fight, but the shopkeepers of Pir Mitha, instead of getting involved in a row, brought the car driver and his family inside their shop and offered them water.

While talking to the media, a shopkeeper said, “in the morning, within a few minutes of opening the shop, we heard a noise, and when we came out, we saw that the car hit an auto-rickshaw and other parked vehicles. As the car stopped, we rushed towards the car. Inside the car, there was a female and child, and they were going to get their son treatment as his one eye got burnt. Then we brought the family to our shop, made them sit and offered water as they panicked out”.

“We are happy that there was no loss of life. The damaged cars could be repaired, but if someone would have died, then we couldn’t have brought him back. We want to request that everyone shouldn’t get engaged in a fight with people if a similar incident happens with them; instead, they should lend a helping hand”, another shopkeeper said.
