In 2015 during the first phase of PM Modi, a scheme was announced called Pradhanmantri Awas Yajona under which every poor will get a house at an affordable price but still many poor families are living in slums and are waiting for the day they will be shifted to their house. One such family is seen in the Supano area of Reasi where a family of 5 members is living in a small hut made of wood and dry grass. The family left their home where they were earlier living because of the fear of terrorism. The family earns by selling the milk of their 3 cows. But their one-act has made everyone salute them. Despite their conditions, the family jas contributed 500 rupees for the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
While talking to the media the woman said “we are a family of 6 but now we have married our elder daughter to a family like us only. My husband remains ill and takes money from the people to get medicines. It’s very difficult for us to look after our children and provide them proper education. For the past 11 years, we are living in this hut and are waiting for the day when we will get our home. We have spent many days under terrible conditions”.
While talking the woman and her children started carrying. Conditions of the family will bring tears to everyone’s eyes. We also met the Panch and Sarpanch of the area. They said that “we have approved the administration several times to get a house for the poor family but every time they ignore our request. Now we don’t have any expectations from the administration”.
Inside the hut of the family, they have made small space to provide shelter to their cows along with it they have a single bed on which the whole family sleeps then in a small space they have a stove and little amount of cornflour and at last, they have a small temple which they have prepared with a hope that the administration has not listened to them but the good will surely listen to their prayer someday.
We request everyone to kindly help them as your act of kindness can surely bring a smile to their face.
