Petrol and diesel prices were cut for the second straight day on Friday in which petrol became cheaper by 22-25 paise per litre in metro cities while diesel became cheaper by 10-11 paise per litre. After today’s revision, petrol was priced at Rs 82.38 in the national capital Delhi compared to Rs 82.62 on Thursday. Similarly, diesel was sold at 75.48 per litre in Delhi as against Rs 75.58 yesterday.
The cut in petrol and diesel prices have come on the back of a drop in International crude oil prices and rupee’s appreciation against the dollar. Brent crude, a benchmark for international crude prices, was trading around $79.30 per barrel compared to its recent high of over $86 per barrel mark. Meanwhile, the rupee has also recovered nearly 2 per cent from its all-time lows and was trading near 73.60 level.
In the country’s business capital Mumbai, petrol was priced at Rs 87.84, down 22 paise compared to yesterday and diesel was sold at Rs 79.13 as against Rs 79.24 yesterday. In Chennai and Kolkata, petrol was priced at Rs 85.63 and Rs 84.21 respectively and diesel was sold at Rs 79.82 and Rs 77.33 respectively in these two cities.
