Today travelers coming to Jammu Protested at the Lakhanpur border to restart inter-state services in J&K. During Corona Lockdown all the States and UTs stopped interstate services but during unlock phases every state and UT restarted it except J&K. People are facing problems as they have to wait for JKSRTC buses. Also, people complaints that the bus operators charge full fare up to Jammu but we have to deboard the bus at the border due to the ban on inter-state services in J&k, and the bus operators don’t refund our fares.
While speaking, a protestor said “we were coming back from Delhi but the bus operator stopped the bus at Lakhanpur border now we are waiting for the state bus to arrive but we have no idea when will the bus will arrive, many passengers even don’t have money to pay for the fare of state bus. We demand that the government should allow the interstate buses to enter Jammu”.
Another protestor said “From Jammu, the bus operators take the passengers from the boarding point but when coming from outside we are made to deboard the bus at Lakhanpur border. We only want to ask that no other state/UT has banned interstate services then why J&K. Also, in JKSRTC 70-80 passengers are taken to Jammu and the government is allowing people to come in crowded buses but not in those buses where the chances of spreading of coronavirus are less. This is a total failure of the J&K Government”.
The JK Police was trying to handle the situation but the travelers were angered over the government’s failure.
