Pollution Control Board (PCB), Ramban, intensified the anti-polythene drive initiated by the Deputy Commissioner, Nazim Zai Khan across the district.
Divisional Officer, PCB, Ramban, Anupam Kaul along with his team conducted anti polythene drive in main market Batote and confiscated banned polythene bags from the shopkeepers and seized around 42.6 kg of banned polythene carry bags with less than 50 microns and 0.4 kg of Single Use Plastic from the shopkeepers.
Member Secretary J&K Pollution Control Board, B. M. Sharma directed the PCB to conduct frequent raids in the markets to make single use polythene free district.
A fine of Rs. 5000/- was also realized from erring traders for non compliance to the directions issued by the government.
The District Officer directed the shopkeepers to refrain from using or selling polythene bags.24
