Islamic Emirate Bans Sale of Pakistani Fruits, Vegetables & Medicines; Strict Action Announced for Violators

Kabul, Dec — Officials of the Islamic Emirate have announced a new directive banning the sale of Pakistani fruits, vegetables and medicines in all major vegetable markets across the country. The order, which comes into immediate effect, aims to regulate market practices and restrict the entry of certain foreign goods.

According to officials, the decision was taken after a detailed review of market conditions and trade activities. They stated that vendors and shopkeepers have been clearly instructed to stop purchasing, storing, or selling food and medicinal products imported from Pakistan. Market monitoring teams have been deployed to oversee implementation.

Authorities emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against any shopkeeper found violating the ban. Inspections will be carried out routinely, and goods of Pakistani origin found in shops or storage units will be confiscated. Repeat offenders, officials warned, may face fines, suspension of licenses, or additional punitive measures under the country’s trade regulations.

The Islamic Emirate stated that the move is aimed at strengthening internal market control, ensuring product quality, and promoting local agricultural and pharmaceutical sectors. Officials added that the decision also reflects the government’s broader approach to regulating imports and securing market stability.

Shopkeepers have been urged to cooperate with the new policy to avoid legal complications. Traders have also been advised to source their supplies from approved domestic and international channels in accordance with government guidelines.

The announcement has already triggered mixed reactions. While some local producers welcomed the decision as a boost to domestic products, others expressed concerns about potential price fluctuations and temporary shortages in certain markets.

Authorities, however, assured the public that the government will monitor availability and pricing to prevent market disruption.

SC Rejects Sanjiv Bhatt’s Plea Seeking Suspension Of Sentence In 1996 Drug Seizure Case

New Delhi, Dec 11: The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a plea filed by former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt seeking seeking suspension of the 20-year jail sentence imposed on him in a 1996 drug seizure case.

A bench of Justices JK Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi said it was not inclined to entertain the matter.
The top court was hearing an appeal filed by Bhatt seeking suspension of sentence in the case.
A sessions court in Palanpur town of Gujarat’s Banaskantha district had sentenced Bhatt to 20 years in the case dating back to 1996.
Bhatt was found guilty of falsely implicating a Rajasthan-based lawyer by claiming that in 1996, police had seized drugs from a hotel room in Palanpur where the lawyer was staying.

Bhatt, who was sacked from service in 2015, was a superintendent of police in Banaskantha district in 1996.
The district police under him had arrested Sumersingh Rajpurohit, a Rajasthan-based lawyer, in 1996 claiming they had seized drugs from a hotel room in Palanpur town where he was staying.
However, the Rajasthan police later said Rajpurohit was falsely implicated by the Banaskantha police to compel him to transfer a disputed property located at Pali in Rajasthan.

Former police inspector I B Vyas had moved the Gujarat High Court in 1999 demanding a thorough inquiry into the case. Bhatt was arrested by the state CID in September 2018 in the drug case under the NDPS Act and is in Palanpur sub-jail since then.

Last year, the former IPS officer had approached the Supreme Court seeking transfer of the trial in the 28-year-old drug case to another sessions court alleging bias. He had also sought directions for recording of the trial court proceedings. However, the Supreme Court had dismissed Bhatt’s plea and imposed a cost of Rs 3 lakh on him for alleging bias against a lower court judge conducting his trial in the drug planting case.

Srinagar
Arunachal Pradesh Police have arrested two men from Jammu and Kashmir for their alleged involvement in espionage activities linked to handlers based in Pakistan. The arrests were made during two separate, intelligence-based operations in the Itanagar region, marking a major security breakthrough in the Northeast.

According to Arunachal Pradesh Police, the accused have been identified as Nazir Ahmad Malik and Sabir Ahmed Mir, both residents of Kupwara district in north Kashmir. Nazir Ahmad was picked up from Ganga Village, while Sabir Ahmed was apprehended from Abotani Colony in Itanagar. Officials said the arrests were executed following credible inputs suggesting that the duo was involved in tracking and documenting sensitive Army-related movements.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects had been monitoring strategic locations and routes used by Army units operating in parts of Arunachal Pradesh. Police allege that the information collected by the duo was being communicated to handlers based in Pakistan through encrypted channels, particularly via Telegram, a platform known for secure messaging.

Sources within the police establishment revealed that both accused had been staying in Arunachal Pradesh for some time and were believed to be operating as part of a wider espionage network. The purpose of their activities, according to investigators, was to provide real-time updates on the movement and deployment of Indian security forces in a strategically important region that shares international borders with both China and Myanmar.

Arunachal Pradesh Police have stressed that the arrests were made at a “critical stage” and may have prevented sensitive military information from falling into hostile hands. They further added that digital devices, phones, and other electronic material seized from the accused are currently being analyzed to determine the full extent of the leaked information and establish their communication history with foreign handlers.

Authorities are now investigating whether the two men were working alone or were part of a larger espionage module with roots in other parts of the country. Teams are also trying to trace the identities of their Pakistan-based contacts and uncover the network through which the data was being transmitted.
Police officials stated that more arrests cannot be ruled out as the investigation widens. Both Nazir Ahmad Malik and Sabir Ahmed Mir are currently being questioned in custody, and multiple security agencies have joined the probe.
