Rs 1.25 lakh crore black money recovered by Govt

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday said that around Rs 1.25 lakh crore of black money have been recovered by the Government so far and disproportionate assets worth Rs 4,600 crore have been attached.
Recalling a remark by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi where he said that only 15 paise of a rupee kept for the welfare of the poor reaches the poor, the union minister pointed out that “today 100 per cent amount reaches the beneficiaries through DBT (Direct Bank Transfers).”
“Then PM Rajeev Gandhi said that 85 per cent of schemes just go away and do not reach the people, but today Rs 26 lakh crore rupees have been directly transferred to people’s account and the saving is close to Rs 2.25 lakh crore, so imagine that much of saving has to happen direct benefit to the people have received,” the minister told .
Speaking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Good Governance model, the Union minister said that the “PM has a clear vision that the country should not go towards shortcut politics but good governance.”
“PM has prepared a digital structure to make sure that good governance reaches every person in the country,” he said.
“Good governance has multiple dimensions– first one is digital dimension, use of digital technology starting from 45 crore Jan Dhan accounts, getting 135 crore aadhars, once that structure is in its place, direct benefit started going to the account of the people,” Vaishnaw explained.
He also underlined other dimensions of good governance due to digitisation. “Where many countries are still struggling with their vaccination programme, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has completed 216 crore vaccinations using a digital platform- CoWIN,” Vaishnaw said.
The minister pointed out that close to 125 crore farmers have also enrolled at the platform e-NAM (an electronic trading portal for connecting the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Mandis for creating a national market for agricultural commodities).
“The government has also procured close to 3.5 lakh crore goods in a transparent manner. There has also been transparency in terms of Income Tax assessments, refunds, auctions, scams in the coal spectrum, and faceless assessments,” he said.
“Today, spectrum auction from 2014 to 2022 has already fetched Rs 4.5 lakh crore meaning that much of the corruption in the system has been removed. All that money is coming to the government.”
“Same is with benami properties worth Rs 4,300 cr have been attached, Rs 1,254 lakh crore black money has been confiscated, 1.75 lakh shell companies have been de-registered,” he added.
He further lauded the Lok Sabha election wins of 2014 and 2019 and the recent Gujarat Assembly elections as a result of the Prime Minister’s good governance.
“PM Modi very strongly believes that good governance is very important for the development of the country and the real benefits of government policies reach common person. He always compares good governance with the shortcut politics and believes that the latter should not be taken up as it is bad for the country, citizens, and society while good governance is good for them all,” Vaishnaw said.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi always focuses on the execution of the projects that are planned. This is why there are progress meetings every month. The trust of common people in the government has increased under the leadership of PM Modi,” he said further.

Yuvraj Singh turns 41: Revisiting former India all-rounder’s six sixes off Stuart Broad

As India’s 2007 T20 and 2011 fifty overs World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh turned 41 on Monday let’s revisit the former all-rounder’s history-creating knock in the first-ever T20I World Cup.

Yuvraj made his international debut in 2000 and called it quits from the sport in 2019. He represented India in 398 matches across formats and had over 11,000 runs to show for it.

Over the course of his one-and-a-half-decade career, he has accumulated a number of records under his name. Among his many accomplishments, Yuvraj is perhaps best known for his six thunderous sixes off Stuart Broad in a single over. On September 19, 2007, Yuvraj accomplished the unimaginable, cementing his name in history and taking place at Kingsmead.

The flamboyant batsman amassed 6 sixes in Stuart Broad’s over and scored his fifty of just 12 balls, which is still the fastest in the T20 format. In that match between India and England, the Men in Blue had won the toss and opted to bat first.

Yuvraj came out to bat when Robin Uthappa’s wicket fell and he provided the late flourish allowing India to post 218 runs on the board. India went on to win the match against England by 18 runs.

It was in the 19th over of India’s innings, when Yuvraj took Broad to the cleaners, hitting him for 6 sixes and taking India’s total over the 200-run mark. The Men in Blue were able to win the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007 and Yuvraj was a vital player for the team in the tournament.

The 38-year-old was also phenomenal in India’s World Cup triumph in 2011 as he became the first all-rounder to score over 300 runs and scalp 15 wickets in a single World Cup. The feat included four Man of the Match awards and Man of the Tournament for 362 runs and 15 wickets.

In 2019, Yuvraj had announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. With a career spanning over 304 ODIs, 58 T20Is, and 40 Tests, Yuvraj cemented his place as a player who could win matches for his side either through his electric fielding, fierce batting, or smart bowling.

Unique family ID another ‘surveillance tool’: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, Dec 12: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said the Jammu and Kashmir administration’s plan to create a ‘unique family ID’ for residents of the Union Territory was emblematic of the widening “trust deficit” after the 2019 abrogation of Article 370.

The former chief minister said Kashmiris are viewed with suspicion and dubbed the unique family ID as another “surveillance tool”.

“Creating ‘a unique family ID’ for J&K residents is emblematic of the widening trust deficit esp post 2019,” Mufti tweeted.

“Kashmiris are viewed with deep suspicion & this is another surveillance tactic
to tighten the iron grip on their lives,” she added.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration is planning to create an authentic database of all families in the Union Territory with each of them having a unique alpha-numeric code, the objective being easy selection of eligible beneficiaries of various social welfare schemes.
The proposed move to allot “Family ID” has been welcomed by the BJP but slammed by other parties which raised concerns over personal data safety.

At the recent national conference on e-governance in Katra in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar released the ‘Digital J&K Vision Document’, unveiling the government plan to create an authentic, verified and reliable database of all families of the Union Territory.
According to the vision document, “Each family will be provided with a unique alpha-numeric code called JK Family ID. The data available in the family database would be used to determine eligibility through automatic selection of beneficiaries for receiving social benefits.”
