The District Magistrate, Jammu, Avny Lavasa, has invoked section 144 to make it mandatory for the landlords in Jammu district to furnish the property details of the tenants to the concerned police station.

A decision in this regard was taken in view of the rising instances of anti-social/anti-national elements seeking hideouts in the residential areas in the guise of tenants/domestic helpers.

“I consider the threat posed by such adverse elements as imminent danger to the public safety and security that warrants immediate preventive measures under section 144 of CrPC,” read the order issued by the District Magistrate, Jammu.

“Now, therefore, by virtue of powers vested in me under section 144 of CrPC, I, Avny Lavasa, District Magistrate, Jammu, do hereby order and require all landlord(s), owner(s) of properties, attorney holder(s), person(s) incharge of properties in any capacity (hereafter called as owners) located in entire jurisdiction of the District to submit without fail the detail particulars of the tenant(s) to the concerned police station, either in person or by registered post addressed to the concerned SHO, within three days of the issuance of this notice,” ordered the DM, Jammu.

The Deputy Commissioner has also ordered that the owners who have already let/sub-let/rented out their house(s) or part(s) thereof to any tenant(s) on any date prior to the issuance of current order, shall submit the detailed particulars of the tenant(s) with immediate effect.
“It is clarified that all arrangements of letting or sub-letting the property like PG, tenants etc., shall be covered by this order,” the DC Jammu ordered.

Admin sealed several private clinics during surprise checking

In a major crackdown against the unauthorized private clinics & laboratories, Chief Medical Officer Doda, Dr M Y Mir, on the directions of District Administration sealed 05 private clinics during surprise checking in Doda Town.

During the day-long inspection, the team headed by CMO Doda checked around 57 private clinics in the Doda town, of which 05 were sealed for not having the valid registration documents of the competent authority as provided under the Nursing Homes and Clinical Establishment (Registration and Licensing) Act 2010.

Meanwhile, the CMO has asked all the private clinics, Laboratories, Nursing Homes and other related establishments to apply online for provisional registration under Clinical Registration Act, if not obtained yet, to avoid legal action under rules.

Multilevel Bus Stand to come up in THIS district of Jammu

Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam along with President MC, Ramban, Sunita Sumbria today inspected the construction site for the Multi-storey Bus Stand Ramban.

The MC Councillors, CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal; CEO MC, Ramban, Sudarshan Kumar; ARTO, Saminder Singh, Shopkeepers, Vendors, members of the transport union, and others were also present.

Reviewing the measures taken by the concerned Departments for temporary shifting of the Bus stand to suitable location to start the construction of the Rs 23 crore Multilevel Bus Stand Project, the DC directed CEO MC, ARTO and another stakeholder to relocate vendors to suitable places besides take care of the interests of shopkeepers, transporters and other stakeholders during the temporary shifting. The Bus Stand has been proposed to shift to Cafeteria Morh and Kowbagh.

The DC assured the executing agency of hassle-free working conditions to complete the mega project of public interest in a stipulated time frame.

Earlier, the President MC, Councillors, Transporters, Shopkeepers, and others discussed different measures for temporary shifting of Bus Stand to start work on a mega project. The Multi-Storey Bus Stand at Ramban would boost the commercial activities in Ramban, besides properly regulating Buses and other passenger vehicles for the convenience of commuters, they observed.

The Deputy Commissioner also listened to the issues of the people and directed the concerned officers to resolve all the genuine public issues on a priority basis. He also appreciated the CEO MC for restoring the street lights in the town and asked him to install lights at the Vegetable Mandi in Maitra for the convenience of the people.

The Deputy Commissioner also visited the proposed locations for temporary shifting of Gool -Sangaldan-bound passenger vehicles at Chanderog and Maitra.

Jammu: Three persons killed in road accident

At least three persons died in a road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Tuesday, a senior police officer said.

The accident took place around 5 pm at Khankoot, 32 kilometres from Doda town, Senior Superintendent of Police Abdul Qayoom said.

He said three passengers of the tempo traveller were found dead by the rescuers and the bodies are being shifted to a hospital.

Jammu Kashmir Police on Tuesday said that they has solved a blind murder case within 24 hours by arresting a person involved in killing of his sister-in-law in Pampore, Awantipora.

Police, in a statement, said that they received information on Jan 08 at around 1730hrs about one female body identified as Rozi Jaan wife of Muzafar Ahmad Ganie resident of Kadlabal Pampore aged about 40 years which was brought to SDH Pampore by family members (in-laws).

Since the cause of her death, prima facie, appeared to be suspicious, accordingly, Pampore police after completion of medico legal procedure initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC to ascertain cause of death, added the statement.

Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case, a special investigating team was constituted by SSP Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Pampore and investigation was promptly set into motion.

During the course of investigation, several family members including the husband of the deceased were called for questioning, ” the statement said.

During questioning of some of the relatives of the deceased, the special investigating team zeroed in on one Altaf Ahmed Ganie, the brother-in-law of the deceased for further questioning. After sustained questioning, he confessed about his involvement in the murder of his sister-in-law.

“During questioning, he disclosed that since his sister-in-law was alone at home and thus taking advantage of her loneliness he tried to exploit her sexually however the deceased strongly resisted to this and raised hue and cry.

The accused further disclosed that although he firstly tried to pacify her but when she continuously called for help, this frustrated the accused who later strangulated her to death and thereafter fled away from the spot, ” the statement said.

During further course of investigation, it also came to fore that at around 1700 hrs 11-year-old daughter of the deceased came back to her home and after seeing her mother apparently dead, she called for help. Thereafter some of the neighbours including the accused came and took the lady to hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

“The accused Altaf Ahmad Ganie son of Late Shaban Ganie, 44 years old is driver by profession who is unmarried and is living separately in the same house. Pertinently, he was accompanying when the dead body was taken to the hospital so that no one would suspect his involvement in the murder, ” the police said.

In this regard, a case FIR No. 05/2023 under relevant sections of law already stands registered in Police Station Pampore and the accused has been arrested. Investigation of the case is going on.

Moreover, Police assured the relatives & family members of the deceased woman that the investigation of the case shall be conducted on priority in a professional manner.

Another Setback to Azad’s Party, Two More Senior Leaders Resign

Two more senior leaders have resigned from former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad led Democratic Alliance Party in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources said that former MLC Nizamuddin Khatana, who was general secretary of DAP and Gulzar Ahmad have resigned from the party today.

They said the leaders have resigned from the basic membership and all posts of the party and have tendered their resignations to party high command.

“In view of the present political development, I, Choudhary Nizam ud din Khatana Former MLC, hereby tender my resignation from the post of General Secretary of DAP including the basic membership of DAP. This may be regarded as my resignation letter,” Khatana said in his resignation letter.

Notably, in December last year Ghulam Nabi Azad expelled three leaders from the party including former chief minister Tara Chand, who joined back the Congress party in Delhi last week.

Jammu, Jan 10, 2023: A car bearing registration (JK02CG1885) collided with a private bus (JK02BL4550) at Tawi Bridge in Jammu, Monday late afternoon.

According to report, a speeding bus and car collided with each other when they were trying to take over, while both the drivers have accused each other in this accident.

“He was coming from wrong side, his car got some dents. My conductor was hinting him to go ahead, but I don’t what happened. It’s his fault”, Bus driver said.
