Jammu: Several injured in bus accident

Several passengers were injured after a bus met with an accident in Udhampur.

The mishap was reported near Gulaban area.The injured were shifted to the District hospital Udhampur.

Jammu: Govt teacher suspended for misbehaviour with girl students

A government teacher posted in Middle School Dhargaloon of Mendhar sub division in Poonch has been placed under suspension over alleged misbehaviour with girl students of school.

Teacher Mohammad Taj Nayazi is posted in Government Middle School Dhargaloon. In a written order by Zonal Education Officer Balakote, it has been mentioned that at around 12:30 pm a visit was paid to the school when the visiting team heard the crying of minor girls.

“Observing the facts of the matter it was established that the teacher committed an offence which is punishable under rule,” order of Zonal Education Officer Balakote mentioned.

Keeping in view the serious nature of matter, Zonal Education Officer said, Teacher Mohammad Taj Nayazi is placed under suspicion with immediate effect and he has been directed to report to the office of Deputy Chief Education Officer till the pendiancy of inquiry against him.

2.5 lakh youth to get skill training in agriculture, allied sectors: J&K Govt

Jammu and Kashmir Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Agriculture Production Department, Atal Dulloo said that under Holistic Agriculture Development Plan (HADP) approximately 2.5 lakh educated youth will get skilled in agriculture and allied sectors in the next five years.

Chairing a meeting here, the ACS stressed on the importance of ensuring that the courses being provided are relevant to the local region and climate.

He instructed that the course material be provided in multiple vernacular languages along with other assistance like subtitles and voice overs.
He also underscored the need for at least half of the 57 courses proposed by the SKUAST to be available through online mode on priority for wider reach.
The meeting covered various aspects of the skill development program including the courses, course modules, lectures, and modes of instruction.
Dulloo was informed that resource persons and course coordinators have been identified and the skilling would constitute various modules including Skilling, Business, Funding and Schemes and Business Plan.

The sectors to be trained under the program included development of seeds and seed multiplication, vegetables and exotic vegetables, agriculture marketing, aromatic and medicinal plants, niche crops such as kala zeera and saffron, apiculture, oil seeds and Nutricereals, integrated farming systems, mushroom cultivation, formation of FPOs, production and processing of mutton, fish and poultry besides development of fodder resources.

During the meeting, management and marketing related skills have also been proposed to be delivered by IIM Jammu.
Dulloo directed that the entire skill plan and learning management system be finalised within this month and a subsequent calendar of all the stages be issued. He also called for incorporating certifications in the courses to ensure effectiveness of the program.

Jammu: Former minister car meets with road accident

Former Minister and Dogra Swabhimaan Sangathan (DSS) chief Chaudhary Lal Singh had a narrow escape in a road accident.

The mishap was reported near Ghagwal area of Samba district .

According to the reports, the mishap took place while while saving the cow, although Lal Singh and the driver remained safe due to the opening of the air bags of the vehicle, while former minister Chaudhary Lal Singh was returning from the wedding ceremony.

Teacher dismissed from school after asking girl student to say ‘I love you’

A teacher was dismissed from service after a student alleged that he had asked her to say ‘I love you’ in class.

Rajkot District Education Officer B S Kaila terminated the service of the Maths teacher.

Kaila, said, “On Wednesday, Karnavati School’s Class 8 girl student and her parents complained that the Maths teacher had asked her to say, ‘I love you’ in the classroom in presence of other students.”

“Two education inspectors examined the CCTV footage of the Class. In the said footage, the voice is not clear. Even other students are not endorsing the girl student’s allegations against the teacher, but for the satisfaction of the student and her parents, Maths teacher Balmukund’s service has been terminated with immediate effect.”

School trustee Ashok Bhambhar, however, said, “The teacher had asked the Class 8 student to say ‘I love formula’, as she was not able to describe the formula. He had never asked the girl student to say ‘I love you’.”

Two doctors banned from private practice in J&K

The authorities on Thursday banned two doctors of Government Medical College Baramulla from doing any private practice across Jammu and Kashmir.

According to an order, Dr Zafarullah assistant professor (ENT) and Dr Shafaqat Ahmad Lone associate professor (ENT) have been banned from doing any private practice.

“Pending enquiry to the allegations, regarding the issue related to the referral of patients from Public hospital to Private Hospitals for availing treatment/benefits under AB PM-JAY & AB PM-JAY SEHAT Scheme and illegal up-coding of packages, two doctor s are hereby banned from doing any private practice across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, with immediate effect.” reads the order.

Pregnant woman found mysteriously dead in J&K

A 24-year-old pregnant woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Mukhdamyari village of Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday.

An official said that the woman identified as Ulfat Bano wife of Mohammad Ashraf of Mukhdamyari was found lying unconscious at het home.

He said soon after she was taken to Community Health Centre Hajin where she was declared dead on her arrival.

“The cause of death will be ascertained after postmortem,” he said.

Meanwhile, police have started inquest proceedings into the matter.

Seven students die, 2 others critically injured in road accident

In a shocking incident, at least seven students died and two others were critically injured after their auto was hit by a truck in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on Thursday. The mishap took place near Bhanupratappur in the Korar police station area at around 4:30 pm.

Reportedly, the auto was on its way to drop the students off at their places after school was over when the speeding truck collided with the auto, killing five students on the spot. Locals immediately informed the police about the incident.

As soon as the police received the information, they reached the scene. Inspector General Bastar P. Sundarraj said the injured students have been rushed to the nearby hospital in Korar.

According to the reports, the accident was so intense that parts of the auto flew into the air. The auto driver has also suffered injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, offered condolences on the death of seven students.

In a tweet, Baghel wrote that the news of the sudden death of 7 school children in an accident between an auto and a truck at Korar Chilhati Chowk in the Kanker district is very sad. 2 children are seriously injured, and all possible help is being provided by the health department. May God give courage to the family members, he added. He also ordered the administration to provide all possible help to the students.

Jammu: There are many types of carpets, rugs but carpets from Turkey and Iran are very costly and Kashmiri carpet is known as the most beautiful.

These days a merchant from UP’s Bhadoi can be seen selling carpets, rugs outside Hyatt Hotel near Residency road in Jammu, the report said.

Mr Noor-ul-Hassan can be seen selling carpets whose price ranges from Rs 100, 1000 and even to lakhs.

“I’m from Bhadoi (UP) which is known as carpet city. We manufacture carpet and exhibit them on govt’s behalf”, Mr Noor-ul-Hassan told media.

“The price of carpets (Kaleen) is solely depends on its quality and its price range is based on it”, he said.

“I came in Jammu on 5th feb and this fair will continue till 15th of feb. The locals are visiting us and those who feels to buy carpets they take it”, he said.

“We have carpets which can be used for multiple purposes and they are made of fibre”, he further said.
