Jammu: Man arrested for taking exam on others’ behalf

A man was arrested by the Kishtwar police when he appeared as a proxy to give 11th class exams in place of the real examinee.

The case appeared when a local school in Kishtwar was conducting 11th class examinations then a man came at the examination center with fake appearance of the original student and tried to write the paper posing as the examinee.

The school teachers informed the local the police when they became suspicious of the identity of the person who came to write the exam. Further details on this case are awaited.

 

 

Raina visits bereaved families of Amreen Bhat, SI Farooq Mir

J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina paid a visit to the house of slain TV artist Amreen Bhat at Hushroo , Chadoora in Budgam district on Monday.

Amreen Bhatt, was an artist who worked in television shows and music videos, she was shot dead on May 25 when three LeT terrorists barged into her house and opened fire .

Raina sympathised with the bereaved family and expressed his heartfelt condolences with the slain artist ‘s family members.
While interacting with media he said that Pakistan wants bloodshed in Kashmir and hatching conspiracies against the people of J&K.

He further said that Pakistan is the biggest enemy of people of the UT and strongly condemned such barbaric act on part of terror groups active in the valley. Raina said that every support will be provided to the affected family .

He also visited the residence of martyr Police Sub Inspector, Farooq Ahmed Mir at Samboora village of district Pulwama.

A road accident has occured at the Jammu-Pathankot National near Rajbagh area of Kathua,

The tragedy occured when a speedy truck badly hit a private car on the Jammu-Pathankot national highway in which four received serious injuries and one died at the spot.

15-yr-old girl raped in hotel after offering bike ride

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an acquaintance who offered her a ride on his bike and took her instead to a hotel, police in Gurugram said.

The accused allegedly took the minor to a hotel for two consecutive days and raped her there, and also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident, they said.

An FIR was registered under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at DLF Phase-1 Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s mother.

According to her complaint, her daughter was allegedly raped by one Pradeep on June 23, when she had gone to a nearby market to buy some merchandise.

The woman, a tailor, said that she had sent her daughter to buy some raw material from a market in the nearby village but she came back without the material, and said she could not find it.

The teenager said the same thing the next day, when her mother sent her to the market again.

“She then started complaining of a headache and I grew suspicious. When I asked her about it, she told me Pradeep had offered her a ride both the days, and had taken her a hotel near Chhattarpur and raped her,” the mother said in her complaint, according to police.

“He also threatened to kill her if she told anybody about it,” she said.

Following the complaint, the accused was booked under section 6 of the POCSO Act and section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

The victim was taken to a hospital where doctors confirmed rape, said police.

“The accused is absconding and we are conducting raids to nab him. He will be arrested soon,” said Inspector Dinesh Kumar, SHO, DLF Phase-1 Police Station.

Police Solves Rajouri Blasts Case, Arrests 2

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have solved three recent blast cases in Rajouri district with the arrest of two persons. It said the search is on for the main accused who is absconding.

A huge cache of explosives material, including five improvised explosive devices (IEDs), were recovered at the disclosure of the arrested accused affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu, Mukesh Singh said. Two explosions rocked Kotrana town of Rajouri on March 26 and another on April 19, leaving two persons injured.

J&K Police recovers stolen bus

The Nehru Market Police team , Jammu has recovered a stolen bus from Katra.

A person named Bahu Singh registered a complaint with the Nehru Market Police post regarding the theft of his stolen bus from warehouse bearing number JK02AV9292.

Acting upon the same an FIR was filed at police station Ghandhi Nagar and a team of police from Police Post Nehru Market led by SI Rohit Gandhi was constituted under the supervision of SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Pankaj Sharma, SDPO South Sachit Sharma and SP South Mamta Sharma.

The team inspected the CCTV footage and succeeded in recovering the bus . Any further update into this incident is awaited.

Pickpockets steal Rs.15,000 from devotee at Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine

In a shocking incident, a pickpocket stole 15,000 rupees from a devotee who came from Rajasthan to visit the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.

The incident happened when an old man from Rajasthan who was travelling with his family members in a local metador that a man who was standing behind him in the metador stealthily stole his purse which carried 15,000 rupees cash.

A local resident said, “ Such thefts with the tourists who are coming to Jammu is really sad. The local transport union must take notice of these activities, the local commuters should really help the victims on the spot as there can be chances that they might have seen the thief taking out the purse and everyday there are thefts which are being carried out in many areas of Jammu,the local police must take action on time”.

The local residents came forward and helped the victim by arranging some money for him.

Amarnath Yatra: J&K LG to flag off first batch of pilgrims from Jammu on Wednesday

The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will flag off the first batch of Shri Amarnath pilgrims from Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas here on Wednesday, officials said on Tuesday.

However, tight security arrangements are made for the safety and security of the pilgrims at the yatri niwas and en route the cave shrine.

“LG Manoj Sinha will flag off the first batch early morning on Wednesday from Yatri Niwas,” said an official.

He said that all arrangements, basic facilities are also in place for the pilgrims.

Notably, Shri Amarnath Yatra is being organised this year from twin Chandanwari and Baltal routes after remaining suspended due to Covid pandemic in 2020-21 and in August 2019 in view of revocation of Art 370.

The 43 days Yatra will conclude on August 11 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

Sinha, who is also the chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board on Monday also visited the Yatri Niwas and took stock of preparations for the yatra.

Sinha said that people of both the regions of the Union Territory are enthusiastic to welcome the pilgrims while the Security Forces are on alert for smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath pilgrimage.

“Lakhs of families had to face financial hardship since Shri Amarnath Yatra could not be held for the last two years due to Covid pandemic,” Sinha told reporters after taking a review of the Yatra arrangements at the Yatri Niwas.

“There is a lot of enthusiasm in the people of Jammu region and in Kashmir too this year and I see the local people are also ready to welcome the visiting pilgrims,” said Sinha.

He added, “The security forces are alert and have made adequate arrangements for the smooth conduct of Yatra, besides it has been our endeavor to make the best arrangements this year.”

Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir Police have also issued special stickers for pasting them on vehicles ferrying pilgrims and no vehicle without HSRP will be allowed to proceed on the highway towards the cave shrine.

“The officials have to verify documents of the vehicles carrying Amarnath pilgrims, following which a special striker issued and pasted on the windscreen to avoid any other check throughout the journey route,” said a police official.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration have also barred non HSRP vehicles from carrying pilgrims.

“In past we have seen many vehicles with tempered number plates, prone to be use in terror related crimes, to check this, pilgrims are advised to travel only in HSRP fixed vehicles,” said a senior police official.

Additional security personnel from police, CRPF, CAPF, CISF, BSF and Army are deployed within Jammu, peripheries and along Jammu-Srinagar national highway for the smooth and safe conduct of the yatra.

Amarnath Yatra 2022: Dos and don’ts issued for pilgrims after security review. Check details here

Following thorough security review, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has issued the dos and don’ts for the pilgrims for the Amarnath Yatra which is all set to begin on June 30, 2022.

Here are the dos for the Amarnath Yatris:

  • The yatris have been asked to carry sufficient woolen clothing as the temperatures may sometimes fall below 5 degrees Celsius.
  • Must carry umbrella, wind cheater, raincoat, and water proof shoes as the weather can be unpredictable.
  • Keep clothes and edibles in a suitable water proof bag to avoid getting belongings wet.
  • Carry identity card/ driver’s license and yatra permit.

Here are the don’ts for Amarnath Yatris:

  • Don’t stop at places which are marked by warning notices.
  • Don’t use slippers because there are steep rises and falls on the route to the Holy cave. Only wear trekking shoes with laces.
  • Don’t attempt any short cuts on the route as doing so would be dangerous.
  • Do not do anything during your entire forward/return journey which could cause pollution or disturb the environment of the Yatra area.
  • Use of plastics is strictly banned in the Union Territory and is punishable under law.

J&K: Son killed in motorcycle accident, father dies of shock

Tragedy befell a family in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district after a man died of shock after hearing the news about the death of his son in a road mishap.

Arif Ahmed son of Abdul Rehman, a resident of Panchalthan Chittergul was critically injured after the motorcycle bearing registration number PB07AK-1407 he was riding collided with a passenger cab JK02AB 1227 near Panchthan Shangus on Tuesday morning. He was subsequently removed to SDH Shangus, where the doctors declared him as brought dead on arrival, an official said.

Back home, on hearing the news about the death of his son, the father, Abdul Rehman Wani, suffered a massive cardiac arrest. He was shifted to the same SDH Shangus, where he too was declared as brought dead on arrival.

Confirming the deaths of the father son duo, a police official said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered into the accident involving death of the motorcyclist. Both the bodies currently lie at SDH Shangus, they added.
