On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that over 107.22 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses had been provided to states and union territories so far through the direct state procurement category.
“More than 107.22 crores (1,07,22,96,865) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Government of India (free of cost channel) and direct state procurement category,” it said.
The ministry said that 12,37,18,504 balance and unutilized COVID vaccine doses are still available with the states and union territories to be administered. However, the ministry said that the vaccination drive had been ramped up through the availability of more vaccines, advanced visibility of vaccine availability to states and UTs for enabling better planning, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.
As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Centre has supported the states and UTs by providing them COVID vaccines free of cost.
India logs 8,439 fresh COVID-19 infections, 195 deaths in last 24 hrs
India reported 8,439 fresh COVID-19 infections, 9,525 recoveries and 195 fatalities in the last 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday.
Of these, Kerala reported 4,656 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, as per the state health bulletin.
With the addition of new cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country increased to 3,46,56,822. Of these, 93,733 are active cases which is the lowest in the last 555 days. The active caseload accounts for less than one per cent of the total cases and is currently at 0.27 per cent.
The daily positivity rate, at 0.70 per cent, is less than two per cent for the last 65 days. The weekly positivity rate at 0.76 per cent is less than one per cent for the last 24 days.
With new recoveries, the total recoveries mounted to 3,40,89,137. The recovery rate, currently at 98.36 per cent, is the highest since March 2020.
With 195 fatalities in the last 24 hours, the death toll rose to 4,73,952.
Meanwhile, as many as 65.06 crore (65,06,60144) COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the country so far which include 12,13,130 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
As per the health ministry, over 129.54 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
India logs 8,306 new COVID cases, 211 fresh fatalities
With 8,306 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 3,46,41,561, while the active cases declined to 98,416, the lowest in 552 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.
The death toll climbed to 4,73,537 with 211 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.
The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been recorded below 10,000 for ten straight days and less than 50,000 for 162 consecutive days now.
The active cases comrpise 0.28 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.35 per cent, the ministry said.
A decrease of 739 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.94 per cent. It has been less than two per cent for last 63 days. The weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 0.78 per cent. It has been below one per cent for the last 22 days, according to the ministry.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,40,69,608, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.37 per cent.
The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 127.93 crore.
India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23.
The 211 new fatalities include 161 from Kerala and 10 each from Tamil Nadu and West Bengal and seven from Maharashtra.
Of the 161 deaths in Kerala, 23 were reported over the last few days and 138 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after receiving appeals based on the new guidelines of the Centre and the directions of the Supreme Court, a Kerala government release said on Sunday.
A total of 4,73,537 deaths have been reported so far in the country including 1,41,170 from Maharashtra, 41,600 from Kerala, 38,230 from Karnataka, 36,529 from Tamil Nadu, 25,098 from Delhi, 22,911 from Uttar Pradesh and 19,544 from West Bengal.
The ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.
“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.

With 8,603 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 3,46,24,360, but active cases declined to 99,974, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday.
The death toll, however, climbed to 4,70,530 with 415 fatalities reported on Saturday, the data released at 8 am showed.
The daily rise in coronavirus infections has been less than 50,000 for 160 consecutive days now.
The active cases have declined to 99,974, comprising 0.29 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.35 per cent, the health ministry said.
A net decrease of two cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours, according to the ministry.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.69 per cent. It has been less than 2 per cent for past 61 days now.
The weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 0.81 per cent. It has been below 1 per cent for the past 20 days, the ministry data showed.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease rose to 3,40,53,856 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.36 per cent.
The cumulative number of Covid vaccine doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide drive has exceeded 126.53 crore.
