Baltal, July 12 : The ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra continues smoothly as over 1.63 lakh pilgrims have performed darshan at the holy cave shrine in the first nine days since the annual pilgrimage commenced on July 3.
According to official figures, 18,010 pilgrims paid obeisance at the shrine on Friday alone. These included 12,838 males, 4,343 females, 223 children, 141 sadhus, 8 sadhvis, and 2 transgender devotees. In addition, 455 security personnel also offered prayers at the cave shrine.
The total number of devotees who have undertaken the sacred journey so far has reached 1,63,726.
Officials stated that the yatra is being conducted under a multi-tier security grid with round-the-clock monitoring, medical assistance, and dedicated rescue teams ensuring the safety and well-being of the pilgrims.
To support the pilgrims during possible road closures or delays along the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway, key transit camps have been set up at Mir Bazar and Walnut Factory Levdora (Qazigund). These camps have a combined capacity of 5,000 yatris, with 2,600 beds at Mir Bazar and 2,400 at Levdora, offering essential shelter and services.
This year’s 38-day yatra will conclude on August 9, coinciding with Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan.
