New Delhi, Jan 8: Chief of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal A. P. Singh, on Thursday said Operation Sindoor reinforced the message that life is not only about personal success but also about contributing to the nation.
Addressing cadets at the ongoing National Cadet Corps Republic Day Camp at Delhi Cantonment, the IAF chief praised NCC cadets for their role during the operation and urged them to continue giving their best to the country, regardless of whether they choose a career in the armed forces or other fields.
He encouraged the cadets not to be disheartened by failures, sharing that he too faced setbacks before rising to the position of Air Force chief. “Whether in uniform or as a civilian, everyone must give their best and contribute to nation-building,” he said.
Singh said the participation of NCC cadets in civil defence activities during Operation Sindoor inspired many people and created greater awareness about service to the nation. He stressed that contributing to the country is as important as pursuing personal goals.
Operation Sindoor was carried out by the Indian armed forces on May 7, 2025, targeting terror hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. During the operation, NCC cadets assisted in emergency drills, blood donation camps, and other civil defence efforts.
Around 2,406 NCC cadets, including 898 girls from across the country, are participating in the month-long camp, which began earlier this week and will conclude with the NCC Prime Minister’s Rally on January 28.
Before his address, the IAF chief witnessed cultural performances by the cadets, including a dance presentation depicting Operation Sindoor and showcasing India’s air power and air defence capabilities.
