The General Manager of Northern Railway, Ashok Kumar Verma, today conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Srinagar–Banihal rail section, reviewing operational preparedness and passenger facilities at Pampore, Anantnag, and other key stations along the route.

The General Manager was accompanied by the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Jammu, along with senior officers from the Jammu Division, who briefed him on various operational, safety, and infrastructure-related aspects of the section.

During the inspection, Mr. Verma assessed the overall condition of station infrastructure, track maintenance, signaling systems, and passenger amenities. Special emphasis was laid on safety measures, punctuality of train services, and preparedness to meet passenger requirements, particularly in view of the region’s challenging terrain and weather conditions.

The General Manager also interacted with railway officials on the ground, reviewing ongoing works and future plans aimed at improving efficiency and enhancing the travel experience for passengers. He stressed the importance of strict adherence to safety protocols and timely completion of development projects.

Senior officials accompanying the GM provided detailed presentations on operational performance, maintenance schedules, and initiatives being undertaken to strengthen rail connectivity in the Kashmir Valley. Issues related to crowd management, cleanliness, and smooth coordination between different railway departments were also discussed during the inspection.

The Srinagar–Banihal rail section is considered a vital link for the Kashmir Valley, and regular high-level inspections are seen as key to ensuring safe and reliable rail operations. The visit by the Northern Railway General Manager is expected to help in identifying gaps, expediting ongoing works, and further strengthening railway services in the region.

Railway officials stated that observations made during the inspection will be reviewed, and necessary follow-up action will be taken to address identified issues and improve overall performance.
