Watch Exclusive Interview Ravinder Raina

Q. The current situation in J&K is worse than expected. Don’t you think it could be handled in a better way?

The covid-19 virus has not only affected India but the entire World be it Europian countries, U.S, Russia or China. It is a natural disaster. India, during the first phase of the pandemic didn’t have proper PPE kits, masks an other related items. But after it went, it started preparing itself for the second wave.

India developed vaccines and provided every required thing to the neighbouring countries. It is due to this we are getting help from those countries in our difficult time. It was indeed a great initiative by our Honourable PM Narendra Modi. India is the first country to have vaccinated around 20 crore people.

The downfall of the covid-19 peak in J&K has started. The BJP workers, businessmen, Police, frontline warriors and all other people are putting their efforts to contain the pandemic. We are developing wellness centres in every village, every panchayat so that people have better facilities.

Q. Lack of ventilators is a major problem in Jammu. DRDO is constructing a 500 bed Hospital that will take 3-4 more days. Don’t you think GMC should work on this?

Government Medical College Jammu is the one step source for every patient living in the nearby 10 districts. If it has a capacity of 500 beds, 600 patients will make chaos there. Our PM has given 6 more Medical Colleges to J&K like the GMC out of which 4 fall in the Jammu region. Those are Kathua Medical College, Rajouri Medical College, Udhampur Medical College and Doda Medical College.

The Rajouri Medical College is totally functional now. It has a high flow oxygen plant installed there. Any covid-19 patient from Rajouri or Poonch can visit there, lowering the patient count in GMC Jammu. Same has happened in Samba and Kathua. Samba has now its own oxygen plant and Kathua has alternate oxygen cylinders like in GMC previously.

Udhampur and Doda will soon have their own GMCs. We are strengthening all the District Hospitals. RS Pura is going to have a oxygen generating plant that will provide oxygen to the entire Jammu district. I personally visited the site. All the occurring problems were brought in LG’s notice and were solved.

Similarly, the problems in GMC, CD Hospital, Super Speciality Hospital that occurred in the starting were reported to the LG. I toured the Hospitals and met the senior Doctors. Our Health Infrastructure is developing on the war footed zone.

It is due to our PM’s government that a prestigious Hospital like AIMS is under construction in Samba. I’ll not talk politics but the things that were to be done 20-25 years back, Modi Government is completing them. Maybe if they were done before, we wouldn’t face so much loss.

None the less, everything is getting handled slowly and steadily. I thank God and everyone supporting us in this battle. We all are fighting together, following all the precautions and will soon beat the virus.

Q. So many Doctors and officials are behind the destruction of ventilators under PM Care Funds. If it would be any other Department, the person would’ve resigned. Why isn’t anyone taking action on this?

No one, I repeat no one would be spared. LG Manoj Sinha has taken over the matter. PM has invested crores of rupees for the betterment of our people and we cannot let his efforts go waste. It is duty to punish the people behind this matter but right now our priority is to save the lives of people fighting for their lives.

Q. This is the topic I was coming to. 50 people succumbed to the virus and no one talking about it.

Even a thorn can hurt a person and his family. I understand the losses of the families and feel for them. This was due to the chaos created in the GMC before the facilities were arranged. We now have Medical Colleges in all the nearby districts of Jammu. No patient from outside you’ll see in the GMC Jammu.

All the people have given their support. Our BJP members and workers have helped so many patients coming from other districts. They have done their best. Till now our party has donated more than 1200 units of blood, given food to patient attendants and are still working on a large platform.

Q. Many opposition parties say that BJP workers hoist their flags wherever they do their service. What’s the reason behind that?

BJP workers are doing social service. They are delivering food to the outsiders and the covid patients as well. There’s no political agenda in hoisting party flags. It is just their work that they are honestly doing. BJP has worked for various wellness centres. Jugal Kishor Ji, Dr. Jitendra Singh Ji, all the ex MLAs of BJP and District Presidents have worked for the welfare of people.

LG Manoj Sinha Ji has taken a very good initiative of arranging 5 beds at the wellness centres in every Panchayat including one with the oxygen flow. The positive aspect is that the patient neither needs to visit the District Headquarters for isolation nor he/she has to stay at home and infect other family members.

Q. Bengal elections happened during the pandemic. The cases have increased due to the elections. Were they important during this time?

The Bengal elections were conducted by the Election Commission of India itself. It is an autonomous body and takes its decisions on its own. We’ve been pleasing the Election Commission to conduct Vidhan Sabha elections in J&K but we are still not getting the approval.

States like Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat didn’t have elections still had a great increase in the covid-19 cases. It’s not the correct time to point fingers at each other. No point of talking politics and blaming the parties. We all be it any caste, gender, religion, have to come together and fight these crisis. People should remain alive, politics can be done later.

It’s my request to each and every citizen of our country to follow precautionary measures. It’s the only need of hour. We can stop going to the marriages and other functions to have a better future. Let the good old times come again. Please send the youngsters out for work. Together we can fight and virus and maybe in a month we’ll be in a much better place.

If anyone needs anything like cooked meals, blood, plasma, money or any other thing please contact our helpline numbers. We are working for better conditions and would appreciate people helping us protect them. Please don’t let negativity demoralise you. Stay positive.

Yesterday I was reading a report that around 3 crore people affected with the virus recovered from it during the second wave. Our Doctors and Paramedical staff have done an excellent job. Please try to keep your family safe, eventually you will keep the environment safe.

Q. I appreciate your work by the MPs aren’t available these days. Shouldn’t they work a little more for people?

They work more on the ground level and come less in the social media. Maybe they don’t want to show off their work in front of media. See, everyone right now is giving their best for the welfare of people. Jugal Kishor Ji has given an amount if 1 crore from his funds.

We are ready to provide any type of help to our people. All the Indians are our family and if they need, we are ready to donate our drop of blood to them. This is our love for them.

Q. You have written so many letters to LG Sir about 4g and Toll Plazas. I request you to write one more letter about the ‘Babus’ of the Department who are a reason of losses of lives these days.

No wrong man can rescue from LG Sir. I have regular discussions with him. He’s also doing good for people. I suggest you to take his interview once this covid-19 virus reduces.

LG Sir has worked a lot. After my tour to Samba, GMC, Kathua and other places I requested him to open a wellness centre in each Block Development of Rural areas and I was impressed that he quickly worked on it.

Q. That’s good. I totally agree with what you said. But the Advisors and Financial Commissioners don’t work on the ground level. Not even senior faculty members come to work. Why is that happening?

Whatever you said, I will surely bring it under LG Sir’s notice. Talking about his work, it is due to him that J&K’s condition is far better than other places like Delhi and Maharashtra. Modi ji has done tremendously good. For your information, Modi ji got 7 high scale oxygen generating plants from Germany and gave it to J&K.

Q. After these plants were brought in J&K, Mehbooba Mufti said it was a robbery. Your take on that.

I’ll again say that talking any political stuff right now isn’t something good. I don’t consider it correct to discuss politics now. Our priority is to save lives. But I would like to mention one thing that these people ruled over J&K for 70 years and if they would have developed the Health system and Hospitals in J&K, we would be in a better condition now.

I met a Doctor recently and he told me he hadn’t slept for 4 days. How difficult it is for our Doctors, frontline workers, civil workers and Journalists to work day and night but they are honest to their work. Anyways, I request everyone to please take care of yourself, follow all the guidelines and stay safe. I pray to God that everyone’s happy and in good health.
