The bidding for the two new Indian Premier League teams is set to take place on October 17. Interestingly, while the last day for queries in regards to bidding for the teams is September 21, the bids can be picked till October 5.
Speaking to ANI, sources in the know of developments confirmed the same. “The bidding is set to take place on October 17 while queries regarding the same can be made till September 21,” the source said.
The Governing Council of the Indian Premier League (IPL) had on August 31 invited bids to acquire the right to own and operate 1 (one) of the 2 (two) new teams proposed to be introduced to take part in the tournament from the 2022 season, through a tender process.
“The detailed terms and conditions governing the submission and evaluation of bids including eligibility requirements, process for submissions of bids, proposed new teams’ rights, and obligations, etc. are contained in the ‘Invitation to Tender’ (“ITT”) which will be made available on receipt of payment of non-refundable fee of INR 10,00,000 (Rupees Ten Lakhs Only) plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax,” the BCCI had said in an official release.
The ITT is available for purchase till October 5. Interested parties have been requested to send an email at [email protected] to get further details for purchasing the ITT.
The email requesting the ITT should have the subject line “ITT for the Right to Own and Operate One of Two Proposed New IPL Teams”. Any interested party wishing to submit a bid is required to purchase the ITT.
However, only those satisfying the eligibility criteria set out in the ITT and subject to the other terms and conditions set out therein, shall be eligible to bid. It is clarified that merely purchasing this ITT does not entitle any person to bid. BCCI reserves the right to cancel
Terrorist killed in encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian
A terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Kashwa village in Zainapora area of the district following information about the presence of militants there.
They said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire towards the security forces drawing retaliation. One terrorist has been killed so far, officials told news agency PTI, adding that the operation was in progress.
The identity and group affiliation of the killed terrorist was not immediately known.
Earlier, terrorists on Wednesday fired upon a civilian at the Chitragam Kalan area of Shopian. Police identified the civilian as Zameer Ahmad Bhat, who is a shopkeeper by profession and a resident of Dangerpora Chitragam Kalan. According to the police, Bhat received gunshot injuries in his leg and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment where his condition is said to be stable.
“Police received information about a terror crime incident in the Chitragam Kalan area of Shopian where terrorists had fired upon a civilian. Senior Police officers reached the terror crime spot,” the statement issued by the J&K police read.
LKG student runs away from home after getting beaten up by parents
LKG student, Niharika ran away from her house in Jammu on Tuesday evening. When stopped by the locals, she started crying and said that her parents beat and bullied her.
According to the lady who took Niharika to Bahu Fort Police Station said that she had bruises on her body and didn’t want to return home. She was scared and had her toothbrush and clothes with her.
“It was around 5 pm and I was driving home after my tuitions. This little girl was running barefooted with things in her hand. She appeared from a good background. Many tried to stop her but she was quick.” said Sandeep Kaur Sodhi
“On getting hold of her, she started crying and showed the bruises on her arms and legs. She was brutally beaten and wanted to run to School. It looked like she had planned to leave home.” She added
Niharika’s parents were called to Bahu Fort Police Station for enquiry and investigation. It was found that her Father has been married twice and she’s currently living with her step mother who accepts that she had beaten Niharika.

Reliance Retail Store In Jammu: Jammu Remained Closed Against Discrimination, Business Establishments not Open
Despite the formation of a Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu bandh on Wednesday had an overall effect in protest against the continuing discrimination from the Jammu division and not taking care of the business interests of Jammu. As a result, business establishments remained closed in Jammu and other districts during the bandh.
Shops remained closed in most of the markets of Jammu city during the bandh. Except for medicine shops, all other shops have been closed since morning. Since today’s bandh was for the issues of the traders, the traders kept their shops closed without any coercion.
Supporting the Jammu bandh, on Wednesday, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association also suspended work today. As a result, the lawyers did not appear during the hearing of the cases during this period, due to which the court work was also affected to some extent.
During the Jammu bandh, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry workers, Jammu demonstrated outside the Chamber House located at Railhead Complex. In contrast, the shopkeepers of Traders Federation Ware House-Nehru Market demonstrated outside the Ware House during the bandh. Warehouse traders mainly opposed the opening of Reliance Retail store, saying that they would oppose the government’s move till the end.
