Mercury Dips Further, Srinagar Records Coldest Night In 25 Years

Last night Srinagar recorded its lowest minimum temperature of -8.4 degree Celsius in 25 years. With this, all previous records have been broken. The tourists are reaching Srinagar to enjoy the snowfall but also they are facing problems because of such minimum temperature. The Valley is under the influence of severe cold and all the water bodies have been frozen so the locals are struggling for water. Also, the old people residing in Srinagar are facing problems in such severe cold conditions.
Indian MeT Director Sonam Lotus said “earlier in 1995 the minimum temperature recorded was -8.3 degree Celsius and now it is -8.4 degree Celsius. The lowest temperature recorded in Srinagar was in 1991 when the temperature dipped at -11.8 degrees Celsius. Now we don’t expect the temperature to fall further”.
The Winter Capital of UT also witnessed a cold night with temperature going down to 5 degrees Celsius.
