Under the Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign launched in Jammu yesterday to administer MR vaccine to over 38 Lakh children falling in the 9 month to 15 year age group, the students of Govt Middle School (A), Kathua were vaccinated today in the presence of DC Kathua, Rohit Khajuria.
There are about 1.64 lakh children in Kathua that need immunization. He said that they aim to reach each and every child in the state. In the first week, vaccinations will be provided to the school students between 6 to 15 years of both government and private schools and in the next week it will reach to the Aaganwadi centres to vaccinate the kids between 9 months to 5 years.
We will then reach to the children in slums for the immunization process and will try to immunize all the kids in the given period of time, said Rohit Khajuria.
The measles-rubella campaign marks the introduction of the rubella vaccine in India’s childhood immunization programme for the first time in the state.
The campaign will continue till 20 October 2018 and cover around 38 lakh children in Jammu and Kashmir State.
