After ten veteran Congress leaders, supporters of Ghulam Nabi Azad, recently resigned from their posts, the revolt started against the party-state president GA Mir is not taking its name to stop. On Sunday, nine more senior party leaders, including Udhampur District Working President and District Women President, resigned.
Congress District Working President Ashwini Khajuria, District Mahila Congress President Preeti Khajuria, Senior Leader and State Congress Committee member Shakeel Ahmed Shah, State Unorganized Congress General Secretary Ashok Kumar Sharma, Tikri Block President Narayan Dutt, Jagannu Block Congress Seva Dal President Prakash Chand Sharma, Youth Congress Jagannu President Abhay Sandhu, State Congress Committee executive member and senior leader Geeta Devi and District Congress Committee executive member Suresh Khajuria are involved. A copy of the resignation letter sent by mail has also been sent to senior party leaders Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, and Jammu and Kashmir Rajni Patil.
A substantial cadre is needed to deal with the challenge of terrorism along with political opponents in Jammu and Kashmir. But factionalism prevailed in all the elections in Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the loss to the party. Due to factionalism, hard-working, talented people were prevented from progressing. Due to this, the party had to face defeat in the assembly, BDC, DDC, Sarpanch, local body elections one after the other from the rivals in Jammu and Kashmir. The state leadership of the party has not been able to unite the cadre. As a result, many ministers and party veterans have resigned from the party and their posts. The state president can mobilize the crowd, but not the voters. Today it is sad to resign from the party’s positions, but he will remain in Congress as a dedicated worker of the party and will continue to serve the public with more dedication than before.
Resigning District Working President Ashwini Khajuria and District Women President Preeti Khajuria bluntly said there should be a change of party state president, and now Jammu needs a divisional president because Kashmir and Jammu have different issues, problems and language. Demanding that Ghulam Nabi Azad be made in charge of Jammu, Azad is an ordinary leader. Everyone in the state and country has seen his work. Handing over the reins of Jammu and Kashmir to him will bring peace and prosperity to the state again like it was during his Chief Minister’s tenure.
“Since these people have taken office, they should be told what work they have done—organized activity or event—associated a worker with the party. Such people make rhetoric only to keep themselves alive among the people. Then, the people themselves will answer them”, GA Mir, Congress state president, said.
