Long Power shutdown in parts of Jammu on June 27, 28 and 30

Superintending Engineer O&M circle Jammu, JPDCL has informed that to carry out various development works, the power supply to Industrial Area of SIDCO Bari Brahmana shall remain affected on June 27 from 6 am to 10 am.

Likewise, the power supply to Industrial Area, PHE, Muthi, Bamahi, Green City and their adjoining areas shall remain affected on June 27 from 6 am to 10 am.

Similarly, the power supply to Babliana and its adjoining areas shall remain affected on June 28 and 30 from 6 am to 10 am.

Likewise, the power supply to Vikas Nagar, Upper Laxmi Nagar, Main Road Sarwal, Part of Talli Morh, MES, High Court Road, Newplot and their adjoining areas shall remain affected on June 27 from 6 am to 10 am.

Meanwhile, Superintending Engineer (Distribution) JPDCL O&M Circle, Kathua has informed that to execute various works, the power supply to Jarai Chowk, Food Bridge, Ward No. 10, 11, PHE, Old Bus Stand, Sawan Chak, Shastri Nagar and Nag Nagar shall remain affected on June 27 and 28 from 6 am to 10 am.

Similarly, the power supply to Chack Fullan, Lower Jagatpur and Raiyani shall remain affected on June 29 from 6 am to 10 am.

Likewise, the power supply to Krishana Nagar, Karan Nagar and Haji Colony shall remain affected from June 30 to July 03 from 6 am to 10 am.

Similarly, the power supply to PHE Samba shall remain affected on June 27 from 5 am to 10 am.

Over 1.30 cr saplings proposed to be planted across UT in this year: J&K LG

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said that 1.30 crore saplings are proposed to be planted across the Union Territory this year.

“During this year, a target of 1.30 crore saplings is proposed to be planted across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” LG Sinha said after launching “Green J&K Drive-2021” from IIT Jammu in Nagrota area here in the city outskirts.

He said that the ‘Green J&K Drive’ aims at creating a people’s movement at a massive scale with the involvement of all stakeholders particularly Village Panchayats, Women, Students, Urban Local Bodies, Institutions, NGOs, and Civil Society.

“IIT Jammu and J&K Forest Department have taken up the Greening and Eco-restoration of forest land diverted for the purpose of creation of this august institution,” he expressed.

The Lieutenant Governor said that it is vital to ensure balance between Development and Conservation.
“The Forest and Tree cover of J&K is around 55percent which is substantially higher than the National average of 24.56 percent,” he asserted.

“Our aim is to bring two third geographical areas of J&K under forest and tree cover,” said Mr Sinha.

Rescue operation resumes in cloudburst-hit Kishtwar after suspension due to rain

The rescue operation to locate 20 people missing after a cloudburst in a village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar resumed Friday after remaining suspended for hours together owing to inclement weather, officials said.

Seven persons were found dead and 17 others were rescued in an injured condition after the remote Honzar village in Dacchan tehsil was hit by flash floods triggered by the cloudburst in the early hours of Wednesday, damaging 21 houses, 21 cow sheds, a ration depot, a bridge and a mosque.

The rescue operation was interrupted by heavy rains late Thursday night and resumed around noon after slight improvement in the weather conditions, the officials said.

Cyber fraud in Jammu, person loses 24,000 from Bank account

With the continuous rise in cyber fraud cases in Jammu and Kashmir, one more similar case was reported from Chasana Mahor area of Reasi where a man named Sat Pal Singh lost an amount of Rs. 24,000 from his bank account.

According to him, the Bank account had an amount of Rs. 25,000, however, when he tried to withdraw it, 24,000 was missing. He later contacted the Bank authorities.

“I went to the Bank ATM but could only withdraw an amount of 1,000. I kept trying until my card got blocked. On talking to Bank officials, a cyber fraud was found. In 3 unknown transactions, 24,000 was taken away.” Sat Pal said

“I’m a poor man. I’ve a handicapped sister and aged Father. I work hard to feed my kids. I request Bank authorities to check the CCTV footage and J&K Police to solve this case as soon as possible.” He added
