Jammu, Feb 10: In the interest of administration, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the transfer and posting of two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers with immediate effect. The directions were issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) through Government Order No. 180-JK(GAD) of 2026, dated February 10, 2026.

As per the official order, Mr. Shubhankar Pratyush Pathak, IAS (AGMUT: 2022), who was serving as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Uri, has been transferred and posted as Additional Secretary in the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. The posting reflects the administration’s decision to utilise his services at the Secretariat level for assisting in key governance and administrative functions.

In another transfer, Mr. Prince Kumar, IAS (AGMUT: 2023), who was posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Kokernag, has been transferred and posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Uri, vice Mr. Shubhankar Pratyush Pathak. Mr. Prince Kumar will now take charge of the Uri subdivision, a strategically significant region along the Line of Control, where effective civil administration remains crucial.

The government order states that the transfers have been made with immediate effect, indicating urgency in administrative realignment and continuity of governance. Such postings are part of routine administrative measures aimed at strengthening field administration while ensuring efficient functioning of the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat.

The order has been issued by the order of the Lieutenant Governor and signed by Mr. Raju, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, General Administration Department.

Copies of the order have been forwarded to all concerned authorities, including Financial Commissioners, Additional Chief Secretaries, the Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, and the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi, for information and necessary action.

The latest transfers underline the UT administration’s continued focus on administrative efficiency, responsive governance, and optimal deployment of officers across key positions in Jammu and Kashmir.
