Kargil Dec 5 : The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, underlined the administration’s focus on inclusive development, stronger grassroots institutions, and better public infrastructure during a public outreach event in Zanskar.
He inaugurated several development works, including four new community halls in Lungnak Block, built at a cost of Rs 1 crore under the Special Development Package. These facilities will support community meetings, social events, educational programs, winter classes, and public outreach in one of Ladakh’s most remote regions.
He also launched the Nayi Chetna 4.0 campaign, a national initiative aimed at promoting gender equality and safer community environments. He said the effort will help tackle gender-based discrimination through awareness drives, workshops, and community-led activities.
Another key announcement was the RGSA Training Calendar for 2025–26. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has approved Rs 9.82 crore for Ladakh’s Annual Action Plan, under which 5,883 participants—including elected representatives, Panchayat Secretaries, frontline workers, and community leaders—will receive structured training worth Rs 1.88 crore. The Lt Governor noted that these programs will help strengthen local planning, digital governance, and transparency at the Panchayat level.
He thanked the people of Zanskar for their support and said the ongoing development reflects the central government’s commitment to modernizing border regions.
Executive Councillor Er Punchok Tashi expressed gratitude for the administration’s efforts and reiterated the public demand for district status for Zanskar. Administrative Secretary Shashanka Ala outlined recent progress in road connectivity, power supply, housing under PMAY, and key block-level works.
