LeT militant held with pistol in south Kashmir’s Anantnag

A militant hailing from Kulgam district affiliated with The Resistance Front outfit, an offshoot of LeT aa per Police was arrested by the security forces at KP road in neighbouring south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday.

According to the reports, the militant Feroz Ahmad Zargar, 34, alias Kamraan, son of Ghulam Mohudin, a resident of Gratabal Qaimoh in Kulgam, was held by Police along with the army and CRPF near Al Noor Masjid, KP Road.

His elder brother Majid Zargar was a top LeT Commander who was killed in 2017 at Arwani.

An official said further investigation into the case had been initiated in this regard.

Cop escapes unhurt in militant attack

A policeman escaped unhurt in a militant attack in the Batmaloo area of Srinagar on Friday, reports said.

Sources reported that militants fired upon a police constable at about 3:15 pm in the SD Colony area.

However, the policeman escaped unhurt. Soon after the attack, the officer said that the entire area was cordoned off and searches launched.

He said that a case has been registered and further investigations have been launched.

Two brothers drown while extracting sand in Jhelum

Two brothers drowned while extracting stand in Jhelum river in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, reports said.

They said that brothers – Nissar Ahmad Malla and Hilal Ahmad Malla – drowned early today morning in the river while extracting sand near Jetty at Khwaja Bagh.

The family of the duo has been called and efforts are on to retrieve their bodies, said an official.

The brothers hailed from Littarpira village of Bandipora district, he added.

J&K: Massive CASO launched in two villages

Joint Forces launched a massive Cordon And Search Operation(CASO) in two villages of the Kulgam district in south Kashmir.

An official said that the operation on Friday was launched jointly by forces including RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and CRPF following inputs about the movement of militants in the Kakran Pombay and Katrasoo areas of Kulgam.

He said that the operation was launched following inputs about the presence of militants in these areas.

The search operations in both areas were going on when this report was being filed.
